Not too sure mate i didnt really look into it that much. I noticed your in harrogate, im only over in York so if you fancy it give me a PM.

*sorry for thread hijack :$ *

i will look into it altho i think it might me a bit of a mare with the different electronic setup!

You need cable throttle body! UNless your pinning 182 ecu to 16v loom, that may work?

But for OMex you need cable, I'm using mk1 172 inlet and plenum and throttle body

so what is stopping getting a 182 complete engine, swapping the inlet for a cable throttle type, and then using 182 ecu and loom and pinning that to 16v car loom? (that sounds too simple doesnt it lol, will the 182 ecu know what to do with a cable throttle setup or will it cack itself?)

i thought 182 used a more complex wiring system (but with less wires) so would pinning that up be a total farce?

finding a low mileage 172 cable throttle engine that isnt over my budget is proving difficult :( trouble is the longer i leave it the less chance of getting a low miler there is!

182 inlet and plenum are different to 172 apparently.

182 Ecu would prob need fbw to, therefore you'd have to get a 12 peddlebox if i'm correct!?

i knew it sounded too easy!

how did you get on with plumbing the 172 in dj? did u make up the pipes yourself or could stuff be re-used?

and are you using valver driveshafts?

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Valver driveshafts yes

Plumbing is basically the same, had to cut one and lengthen 2 others!

Cheers.

Final engine running plans now going thorugh!

Juts getting the loom built in next couple of days from Omex when I finally pay them lol! O and somehow fitting the exhuast?!

But it looks liek you fitted a standard one no problem wayne?

Unfortunately not got anymore pics, but hopefully should tomorrow night

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Well, I have no more pics!

BUT I am making the manifold tomorrow night, mine needs to be lengthened to fit under the PAS rack! :(

Omex also came through at the weekend which is now half plugged in!

Still waiting for plumbing to be done then hoepfully should be a good job!

That looks mint :)

Right, i had the cat too, not sure if you do?

I cut it off just before the y-pied to the 2 cats and weleded on a flange from another part of the 172 exhaust:

then cut the flange off the end of the cat and welded it to another bit of pipe:

Only problem with that was that it didnt drop down from the body ebough so it wouldnt meet up to the centre section, so just make sure yours is a bit longer! i havent got any pics of the current one, but will get some today for yuo.

You don't appear to have PAS though, I have PAS on my car.

Or can i just nto see the pipes?

  MKIII 138
didnt matts car sell for summat stupid like £4500 in the end ? id of bought it lol but had just bought the 172cup at the time.

cheap for one of the fastest fwd cars in the uk by some distance over many other tuned fwd cars

cheers for finding that thread winston, got some pics i needed to see, like the gap where the 172 manifold pokes through, looks a wee bit tight! lol

  F4R'd ITB'd '92 cup racer
what your pas pipes are in the way of the manifold?? that cant be good!

im just trying to find a manual steering rack, found one on ebay but its listed for 91 to 94 models, and the valver is a 95 m

anyone know what the differences in the rack will be?

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Only in the way if it was to come out the same way as all the other ones, I'm just lengthening it and taking it the same route as the 16v one under everything!

  F4R'd ITB'd '92 cup racer
You need the rack and column ...any Mk1 clio parts will fit

how come the 16v column wont work?

i got a spare rack with the car aswell, its in a plastic bag so havent looked at it yet but its prob a power steering unit rather than manual :(

Well mine fits with the subby etc on, im running a pas rack but no pas pump. the engine is lighter, so feels like it would with manual steering.

Mine is on its wheels now, just waiting for P murray to get the ecu back!

Manifold got started tonight!

Completely changing it now using 2" pipe instead of standard which is a tad bigger than 1 3/4".

4 bend's to 2 Y pieces, then hopefully 2 pipes under car until first box!

is that ok to do? does the pas fluid not work as a lubricant aswell for the rack?

if it is ok i may well do that myself :)

The exhaust manifold dictates alot on how much back pressure you have, loss of back pressure will result in a loss of torque.

What if I ran 2 inch at manifold and then 2 inch the rest of the way for the exhaust rather than the 2 1/2"?

But I'll try get 1 3/4" instead!

No worries, the other option if you hadnt thought of it is to get a willy manifiold and cut the flange off it and weld it to the 172 flange. This was one of my many options!

  182, SQ7, Trafic
I have a Clio 16v one, aren't they the same?

The only problem is the downpipe part will rust/corrode quicker?!
