your looking at a space where the air bag control unit used to be underneath the centre console, plus the cigarette lighter power supply, and abit of chassis lightening :)

Thought you may have been going for a crazy install.

nah that add weight doesnt lose it! im about quarter way though the work now, well quarter way through a quarter hehe

Surely drilling holes in the chassis should be last resort after removing EVERYTHING + one seat, polycarbs etc?

nah it would be the last resort if i had done everything and still wasnt happy, where as i know what i want and im going for it :approve:

how long you think it'll take to finish? or is it a rolling project?

its a rolling project! i dont use it much though hence why i aint fussed about the noise we just use the RB182 for cushy long journeys,
dont have an idea of finishing time im working with certain companies to build up building times and prices for certain things so i'm hoping maybe fcs next year

they were corbeau tillting frames but i did some modifying to them removing the tilting and the mounts then drilled holes into the subframe that was left positioning the side mount brackets at the right width for the seat to slot into, as you can see im going to remove the bushes the subframe sits on so the seat will sit another 10mm lower, i just didnt have any washers on me

wont putting holes in the car make it more likly to become damaged from stress? if you start puttin in a turbo's etc??

  80MPG BEEZA
car history = was a 1.2 dynamique dropped a 172 lump in erm few other bits and bob

TEZ = no i have only taken away metal from parts that hold no strength to the structure e.g some places are that thin you can flex it with your fingers not that i care cars probably bent when i crashed it with the 1.2 in :)

hopefully if i get chance this week i'll be taking all the little screws off with some cutting device, next job is to start working on the door cards - wing mirrors and wiring and get it booked into motoscope for fitment of 2 things, i'll try and find a pic with some hint of whats happening

Right todays task was to start removing the tar from the floor as its gonna take all week to grab the time to get it all up so i thought i may aswell do a quick guide

first you'll need a heat gun and sum sort of scraper or chisel

092407_150606.jpg

now remember these heat guns get very very hot i tried to use it for 1 min at a time then off for a minute then repeat just as i have a habit for breaking tools.

here's the tar before removal

092407_150916.jpg

now with the heat gun on try and spread the heat around if it starts bubbling up like bubble bath your either spending to long in one area or you've got the heat gun to close

092407_151219.jpg

allowing the peeled up tar to fall onto the rest will heat the unscraped tar making it easy to scrape up. Keep scraping it back until there is to much excess to handle, slice it off and leave the lump to the side.

I did the first two patches in about 20 mins if that it was a really easy job here's a quick pic

092407_152040.jpg

remeber mind for wires you dont want to melt them to, i unclip the rear loom at one point and moved it aside because knowing my luck i'd burn right through them and not even notice!

I repeated this the the tar panel on the boot floor and this is the amount taken off so far

092407_153039.jpg

i estimate it being just under 1/3 of the total tar on the floor and believe me its pretty darn heavy when you add it up

092407_153911.jpg

thats 1.4kg so im looking at atleast a 5.5kg loss which is more then what you'd save with a carbon bonnet

i'll put some pics up later after cleaning up the remaining tar it will leave a better surface for when the cars painted eventually.

Mark :boring:

class mate.. wooohooo can wait to get on mine!

yea its was chuffed to bits as i wasnt keen on the idea of just spraying over it, seriously weighs alot if you through it off someones head it would really hurt!

i've kept it in a bad to weigh it all together, i wonder if yozza have removed this stuff from the cup?

  80MPG BEEZA
you wreckon my 182 cup will have it? i'll have to check it out when i get chance, there's still a ton to take out hopefully it'll weigh 6kg's which is a bomb really considering my cage weigh's 32kg

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
LOL! think it mite.

mine has LOADS of it.. compared t my old one this one has sooo much. the whole rear floor is covered!

  80MPG BEEZA
f*cking hell mine just had a square to one side about 1/2 ft x 1ft but then there's both footwells covered and to the side, underneath the seats, behind the seats, the part thats vertical after that so a fair amount!

just glad it came off realy should make it look tons better sprayed

anymore work to the dash?

  80MPG BEEZA
lol the firbeglass resin stuff stinks dunno if i could be assed to play with the stuff again its easy to use it just gets sticky and fumey, what are using for door panels? i was thinking wafer thing 1.5mm black abs sheeting

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
im gona buy two sheats of it cut it to size then ,make a female mould of each.

then make them from carbon fiber, as they take a beating ...plus it looks s**t hot!

  80MPG BEEZA
you could buy the carbon firbe sheeting and just cut it to size sand it round the corners for the curved edges, i was gonna go carbon fibre but i think im just turning everything black, its funny having no iterior light and everythings black i cant see crap all getting into the car at night
