to update this thread. Got my custom paint back so it's guna be the only car on the road to be this colour. Stripped everything apart from doors so it's almost ready for rolling in the paint booth. Only thing is Im thinking of getting extra bars welded onto the cage for harness straps. Opinions please dudes and dudettes

*Just windscreen to cum out then the the paint work can begin
* had a paint specially made for the exterior. Got it back and had to try it out

*Small update. The only thing left on my shell now is the subframe, torsion bar and handbrake. Il b spendin an hour here and an hour there over the next week or so on prep work. Rest of my roll cage is getting welded on Tuesday. So bodywork side is coming on nicely.
now for more pics.

* rear axle and tank off tomorrow

*Started striping the engine bay down to the metal. Had some sticky reflective stuff on. To 18 hours to get it off
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/0ac65a86.jpg
just need a smaller tool to get in the gaps and the full bulkhead and chassis legs are back down to the metal.
dont a bit on the scuttle and where the windscreen sits and discovered a couple of little rust holes.
altho i had my interior and engine bay paint chosen and bought, my mate nicked it for his nissan gtr so im left with a desision. do i stick with the green i origionaly chosen or do i go with liquid yellow as it fits inline with my business colours?

*Bit more progress. I'm getting the motivation and the love back.

Managed to get my mits on some Kent cams for f4r (altho they don't have Kent stamped on them anywhere :/ )
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/592b104a.jpg
Then decided on a new interior colour
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/eefdea1f.jpg
Then today I've achieved this
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/de2d9643.jpg
Then this
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/5ed97f63.jpg

*Bit more work today
Primered
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/d3f2e23e.jpg
Then 2 coats
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/55379ccc.jpg
Then on with the clear stuff
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/92eabb9c.jpg
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/edbc8305.jpg
Bit of a different angle
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/cb6cb2b0.jpg

*Changed my mind. I now don't like the engine bay colour. Chose another colour now so time to the sanding discs and spray gun back out

*Disicion made
BMW phoenix yellow

*Lol. No progress apart from plans changing.

Colour plan has changed. As has the cage. It's currently a 6 point weld in. It's soon to be a very extensive (and expensive) 6 point with more extras like mid cross brace, harness bars. Roof cross. B to c braces etc. All in all an extra 500 worth of cage.

The paint scheme has changed. Now the cage. Engine bay and various other bits are going phoenix yellow (which looks like this)http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/6a3cf0f2.jpg

*Then once I've got the cage finished it will also be getting the phoenix yellow treatment. While the roof is cut off so I can get a good coat on it.

The wheels (which I havnt chosen yet) will also be getting some phoenix yellow treatment.

I've been keeping a close eye on ph1 172's
I'm guna get hold of a full 172. (can even be rear end crash damaged)
As my plan is to use the widetrack, engine and box. And breaks all round.
I'm undecided as to use the dash or not.
It looks cool but it's not guna save me much weight.

Once I get my hands on the 172 I will be fully rebuilding the engine, then slap on the supercharger and go from there

*looking at it again it will be a tight fit on the subframe but its got a hell of alot more chance fitting in than the ktec kit just noticed the little pulley for the charger between the air con and the water pump but should go in with a different alternator set up and a shorter belt
Top * *(was talking about supercharging it)

*Purchases
http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/aarin85/2bd2256c.jpg

*I've decided I'm going to use the morrettes as a mould and I'm guna make carbon fibre ones instead

Well that's it for now. Project has been at a standstill for a while as I've now got a 5 week old baby daughter but il be back messing on very soon :)

Hope I didn't bore yous all too much

When posting there should be a photo button at the top you can click on. Click 'From URL' and then paste the direct image link into there. Hope that helps. Look forward to seeing the build, that yellow looks like a pretty striking colour to.

I copyied the images from my thread on c16v as I seem to spend half my life on there. Il keep my eyes open for it next time :)

I'm hoping the colour comes out as well as it does on the m3's.

The colour the engine bay is at the min just wasn't 'in ur face' enough for the project lol

Yeah foxy. Beanie. Coops and a few others have similar builds on that I've seen on c16v.
I want mine to be even better tho lol

Just wish I had a bit more time to get on with it :(

Well it's been a long while since I've done any work on the shell but I now have a 172 to pull apart. Has a carbon bonnet on if anyone's looking to buy.

ive decided I'm going to get it done and on the road then see how I feel about it. If its not enough fun I will be turboing it over next winter.

so any one after Monaco blue 172 parts then give me a shout
