Projectors and smartboards

We currently have a projector on our shopfloor displaying various bits of info from an excel document 24x7. The screen is 3m x 2.5m and the projector is hanging from the ceiling attached to a PC which is 5m away from the screen. The problems we have are:

• the image is too small
• the bulbs are costing too much to constantly replace.
• Need to easily plug a laptop in for presentation etc

What are my options? Smartboard? I've specced up an £3k NEC projector that is suitable, but the bulbs need changing every 6 months and cost £400 a pop.

You can get short throw projectors as well.. no idea on costs etc just have installed a few in schools along with smart boards. Just means you dont need it metres back!

LED projector? brighter, less power usage and bulbs last up to 30,000 hours or something silly.

We use Promethean boards at my work. You'd get a whole setup for under 3k and the bulbs last a lot longer than 6 months.

Also looks like they might be cheaper to replace bulbs/projector.

How about a LCD display matrix? 4 displays together to make one larger one?

Think we're going for a casio led projector. 10,000 hours guaranteed, possibly 20,000. 3x3m screen at 5m distance and costs approx £1000. Bargain!

Epson short throw looked awesome at ISE.

The future is LED but not till 6000 lumens is possible.
