Wet flatted down side strips this morning with 1200 wet and dry then re primed them at about 10...

when will it be ok to start applying a basecoat?

cheers:rasp:

yeah was doing the engine cover. that what i was told to do anyway. leave a day to dry for each. primer, paint and laquer. so it took 3days

but now i dont know weather to wetflat the primer one more time before i spray or shall i just spray it on ?

you cant spray basecoat straight onto freshly sprayed primer. itll just flake off as the paints got nothing to key to.

you need to prep primer before you spray anything onto it .

only exception being wet on wet, which you aint using.

Bump... some one on this thread wanted me to update as i was doing it so no point in starting another thread...

After priming - i bought some 800 and 1200 grit wet and dry.

Rubbed down with the 800 - then the 1200.

since i broke through the primer i put more on and waited an hour for it to dry.

i then put more primer one and waited for it to dry again - the gave it a quick rub down with 1200 grit wet and dry (was seriously smooooooth) so the paint had something to key too.

i then painted once, twice and now just thrice... and here is the results - only the one pick im afraid:

will post up picks when laquered and on the car :)

EDIT: not this thread sorry it was the other one but still relevant :)

Yep its well easy mate. if you start and get stuck just PM me and i think i may be able to help you with it (As i have sent countless amounts of PMS to FM and middo). if you were to incurr a problem it would probably be same as things i have. Just Ask :) going to laquer tomorrow so il post finished picks up

They look pretty smart :D I've been designated to the cold garage to do mine :( I wait alot less to do things timewise but I give things alot of lacquer!! My rear strips werent coming out perfect texture wise but about 7 layers later of lacquer and theyre pretty smooth :)
