mates dad has just bought his son a car 1.2 clio....

When he takes the oil filler cap off and the car is revved, should it be sucking his hand towards it?

Can't remember if is said it was pulling his hand in or blowing it?

either way he isn't sure so would like confirmation its nothing to worry about?

thanks.

Should be sucking slightly if anything as the oil breather should/is be on the vacuum side of the inlet.

that's normal, it's called positive crankcase ventilation. it's basically the inlet vacuum sucking oil vapours out to burn them rather than venting them to atmosphere

I tested it on my car earlier and that was doing the same, so I persumed it was fine.

Thank you for the responses!
