Quiet Exhaust = Slow Clio?

Swapped out the exhaust this weekend, having gone from my hilariously loud longlife system, unsilenced centre section to a very nicely built, silenced powerflow, the Clio feels slow, looking at the speedo, it definately isn't slow.

Anyone else swapped out their noisy exhaust for something quiet and found it now "feels" a lot slower?

Before anyone comments on powerflow's build quality, this was a bit of a special exhaust, so it's not your average powerflow, and in terms of quality, I'll say no more though ;)

Oh, but on the brightside, I can talk in the car over 50mph (amazing) and drive around with the windows open and be able to hear the music, the downside, I now can't drown out the missus. Got to be said the exhaust is 10-1 on the longlife, a world apart.

I had a 'sporty' longlife system on mine, also unsilenced... only managed to survive a week of it!

I found it 'felt' quicker when I swapped it over, probably due to the fact that I wasn't getting annoyed everytime I put my foot down!

Quite the opposite with mine, i changed from a standard to a custom zorstec system and lost power.......sod it, i paid for it so i'm keeping it :)....sounds great though ;)

You've already found out out that the car is just as quick as before, It's just the noise that makes it seem faster. The quieter exhaust associated with being slow is just perception in your mind.

That thing was mental!

LOL! Mental wasn't the word Danielson, going through the blackwall every day was probably damaging other motorists ears!

I'm not 100% sure it is as quick, but I do believe a lot of it is the sound, I guess once I've had a play with a few mate's car's, I'll know.

This isn't any ordinary powerflow, trust me ;)

To add to that, the longlife was a bit old (i think), now it's off the car, I'll clean it up and see if anyone wants it I guess. It's a good exhaust if you want to impersonate the wrath of god himself, every time you put your foot down.

That was toned down mind!

When I first bought it, I asked for it to be ''SLIGHTLY'' louder than standard. When I went back to collect it I never even made it out of the car park. Told him to shove it up his ass. It sounded like a bomb was going off and made the dashboard rattle when you rev'd it.

So I left it there again and he put a bigger silencer on the back. I still wasn't happy but my mrs needed the car so I had no choice but to take it.

Then I made it louder by fitting a decat! pmsl!!
