Its not that horrific really, its just the car seems to have a much smaller tank than a 3 series, so a 400 mile range as with a 330i is simply not gonna happen. Mind you, that means that it only takes £70 to fill up instead of £90 or so, but yes, looks 1 billion times better without the tints, just need to give it a clean now :D

In all honesty I will use my van for little trips that would otherwise destroy petrol in the R32. And what ever MPG I will end up getting, it won't bother me. I think it is a car you buy with your heart and not your head!

I'll still be gutted when my 182 drives off on tuesday though!

And it 100% looks better without the tints, and I didn't think the tints looked too bad!

Moooooore money spent  Got a puncture on the drivers front 'Semperit' so used it as a decent excuse to purchase 2 x Continental Sport Contact 3's to match the rear two. £270 later and i now have epic grip all round, wahoo!!

Currently pondering whether to spend £600 on an RNS 510 with bluetooth & iPod input, or just get another Parrot MKi9200 and update the maps on the MFD2 (£130 all in) ... with tax & MOT needed next month, i think its likely to be the latter ... also got a bargin deal on an Evoms CAI, but am currently undecided on whether i can be bothered to fit it or not. Ive got the black 'stealth' version, but its like this :clown:

I would imagine, that with that fitted, it would sound quite angry

Just had a custom exhaust put on my bosses, same setup as non res Miltek. Jesus christ its the loudest thing i have ever heard. It is seriously loud, sounds awesome but sadly just a tad too loud. Going back in this week for centre box added.

Sounds boss when it goes passed on the motorway though!

What is that? Is this some kind of Halfords special! I am disgusted in the thought you purchase this crap hahahahahah

On a serious note, when will we see a supercharger>

FLOL. I'll have you know thats £320 worth of CAD designed airbox & filter yo. Guaranteed 10bhp iirc. Yeah right.

Re: the supercharger, i'll consider it if i ever purchase a Shell fuel station, until then, i'll stick with just the 250bhp :p

So over the past week i've been scouring the internet for a cure to my rattling front end/slightly loose steering, & today i decided that its probably the top mounts, a cheap enough fix at circa £80 for parts + fitting. I always get carried away though, so then decided that if ive got to pull things apart i might as well change some other bits & bobs as well!! After all, it is 98k miles old & if i do all the changes at once, it saves money on re-alignment, etc ...

This morning I ended up buying some AP coilovers from the chap i got the EVOMS off  According to the forums, they're apparently quite good, with fairly soft/OEM style handing - which hand on heart is what i wanted, stiff suspension is cool on track, but bouncing up & down the motorway every day simply isnt fun anymore!! Anyways, considering they cost me bugger all, if they are rubbish, i'll just pull them off again and buy the Bilstein PSS B14's that i'd originally decided upon.

This way however, for the £800 that the Bilsteins would have cost, i can have new AP coilover's, replace all the front end bushes (maybe Powerflex them), sort the top mounts & bearings, do the re-alignment and have money in the bank ... that ill probably then spend on H&R ARB's ;)

The AP's are apparently made in the same factory as KW's anyway, & having looked at the comparison below, they do look quite similar:

Dave, I've got brand new pair of Compbrake adjustable top mounts. £200 to your door.

I'm sure i will have fairly soon dont worry, xmas present maybe ...

Will have a looky to see which ones are better, the Powerflex bushes come to about £100, then the Whiteline Anti-lift kit is approx £150.

As tempting as that is, the coilovers only cost me £300, so im probably looking to spend about £160 less than your wanting on top mounts :clown:

AP's come out of the same factory as KW. Fact. My AP's were lovely on my Bora.

£300 for that suspension :( I need a deal like that.

Loads of cheap stuff on Edition38 usually, worth joining up for the for sale section alone tbh ...

You do like your high mileage cars like!

Suppose its nowt for V6

Hopefully its nothing, if my old Trophy can get to 187k and the 330i 168k, i'm hoping that this will last a while. It better had anyway as ive sold the Clio now, so buying/selling cars will be ruddy difficult in the future!! Think thats a sign that i like the car ...

I had AP's on my fiesta, really liked them. Although, they were a bit hard, but that was probably down to the ride height I had them at

Couple more bits fitted over the weekend! Some more successful than others lol ...

Firstly, cruise control. Stalk cost £48 delivered off the Golfgti forum, 20 mins to whip the steering wheel off to fit it, then 5 minutes coding in VCDS. Now i can cruise along the motorway at 70-75, getting 30-31 mpg, & it takes away the lure of sitting at 90 and getting <25mpg

Secondly, the EVOMS induction kit. Basically the worlds largest cone filter, in a ruddy great big airbox. Uses the same cold air feed as standard, so in theory, the air is still coldish as the bonnet acts as the lid to the airbox, you just get more induction noise. UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!! What i didnt realise is that the R32 has an 'induction noise generator' thingy, so induction noise is piped straight into the cabin - helps to explain why it sounds so throaty as standard i guess? Needless to say, with a open cone filter the size of my head under the bonnet, the noise inside the cabin was quite frankly obscene. Probably an awesome addition if you have a Miltek, & want to bwaaaaarp around everywhere, but i really like the standard raspy exhaust sound, & the deep boom from the EVOMS just sounded wrong.

So the timescale between fitting it, going for a drive, removing it, then selling it on the R32oc was approx. an hour.

Looked cool though. Collecting my AP's tonight, so just hoping that they are as soft/OEM riding as everyone says. Suspension is a lot more complicated than fitting an induction kit, so dont want to have to take it all off again 10 minutes after fitting it lol!!!

I guess this is a sign that im old, that i prefer a standardish car to a toyed with one ...

Getting the shocks out of the hubs can be a massive pain.. Id take the whole hub off and do it that way.. Any sudden shocks/knocks to the steering/suspension can cause rack failiure.. Iv been there :(

Nothing good was ever going to come from fitting an elephants bellend in your engine bay.

Did you buy the VW 'special hub spreader tool' - ive got one on order at the moment from the US, makes things a lot easier apparently!! My steering rack needs some investigation anyway i think, its not failing or pulling up any fault codes, but there is some movement/knocking in it somewhere, god knows where though lol. Will look further when i pull the suspension apart.

I don't use the spreader tool as I haven't got one lol I always end up just taking the hubb off with the shocks as it takes 10minutes extra if that.

Luckily I had a friend break a steering rack before I could make the mistake.

If i was you id buy 2 new track rod ends aswell... And if you can warm the hub up so you dont have to knock it too hard... Basically just minimise the amount of knocking on things as possible and you shouldnt have any problems.. If you do its circa £1k for a rack from VW iirc...

Surely a rack takes a beating from, well I dunno, driving around?

Ud think so mate, but i lowered a friends R32 and the rack died... After some research its apparently quite common, any sudden shocks to the rack kills them... Seems a bit of a design flaw tbh..

I it goes you need Hercules muscles to steer it...

Nice cone, it's fecking huge.

Not surprised you took that out, running an open cone on anything >2.0 is mental if you ask me. I put one on my 172 for a laugh, it made so much noise it was obscene, so f**k knows what it'd do on a 3.2 with an already throaty roar.

Can I give it a go on mine? It looks like it'd fit!
