R5 engine

Hi all !!!!

Ok after a chat with a very good m8 of mine hes willing to sell me his R5 Tubro engine, running 182bhp "on dyno paper". He got hit up the ass by a 7.5 tonner and basicly is a write off, god its bad.. "ill get some pics at the weekend" but the engine is intact and said if i want it ild have to take it out and i can have it for £375 "no probs there as a another friend said hel do it for a drink" which was pretty nice of him. Now how hard, and is it alot of hassle fitting to a phase1 clio. e.g/ engine mounts, size, would i have to cut shape to make it fit, loom ect ect any advice would help here. thanks.

The R5 lump is a "C" type lump which was actually fitted to the early type clio's with a single point injection system ( usually a rochester unit ) . The 5 Turbo runs a C1J 788 which will mount up to the clio subframe and mounts no problem. You will have to use the R5 loom and ECU + gearbox & shafts ( they both run a JB3 box )

I would fit an OMP strut brace though with that kind of power

you will probably need the Clio 1.1 Night + Day engine mounts, get the whole car as you will need more than just the engine
