New seat fitted as well as new harness. Seats are made from slightly different material (no longer make the same material as the old one).

With the track day at croft on monday looming the car needed a few bits addressing at RStuning. First thing was a new throttle position sensor, map changed to suit aswell as a few changes to the map after OMEX had messed it up updating the firmware version.

With the car mapped and the TPS fitted, paul took Adrian out for a test drive. All was going smooth until 4k rpm in 3rd gear then suddenly the car lost drive and made a rattley noise, the clutch had gone. After 2 and a half years and 8 trackdays it had finally given up. I had noticed the clutch rattling recently but thought it was the release bearing, it was only a matter of time for this to happen. The RAC was called and got a tow home from leeds.

Luckily we have spares lying around ready in case anything like this happens so we got through early in the morning with a new clutch, new gearbox and flywheel (gearbox and flywheel just in case). When we removed the old one the clutch inside just fell out as you can see in the photos. The new clutch was fitted and the car now drives very well. The new throttle positon sensor has helped massively and the car has never driven better.
Just in time for Croft :star:

Big thanks to Paul at RStuning as well as Steve from C&S Gearboxes

Where did you get the cage padding from?

Ive tried 3 different types now and they all just tear/rip/fall apart after a week or two of use!

Got that stuff from a company who were at Autosport show selling bits for grass track racers. No idea of the same but it only cost me £10 for 4m so not bad.

Ah cool. Better keep looking then..

Im assuming the engine isnt the new one, not got it back from APD yet?

nope the original engine. Engine is still at APD, it has been 5 and a half months now. Takes the piss tbh.

having being lifted out of a race car on a board I can tell you that it's in your interest not to make it too hard for the first aiders to get to you and lift you out.
thats a fair point but the cup racer cage has that cross on the left hand side which is where the drivers sit so surely that must be the best compramise in difficulty in getting in and safety?

they do, but they don't have it on the passenger side. I had 3-4 people sat inside the car and working on getting me out. My cage is pretty simple (single door bar, single diagonal), but sat there in a neck brace you think about the guys bent double working around those bars. There was a possibility of lifting me out on my seat, how possible would that be? I'm not saying that there is a right or wrong answer, just that enclosing yourself in an impenetrable iron box isn't always the right thing to do.

That's a lovely build from what I've seen, especially interior wise. Boys should be proud of yourselves.

Hopefully you get the engine back at some point, I'm sure it will be worth it!

After surviving a good day at croft last monday it was time for another croft day. This time RSOC track day. I started and did the first two sessions, although the track was damp the car performed very well challenging some very powerful cars including a couple of evos and passing a few cosworths with ease. The rain came down a little more and it was Bazzons turn. About 4 laps in an escort cosworth lost its backend through the fastest part of the track (jim clarke esses) Bazzon was following and let off not to make contact with the cosworth. The result was the car going sideways through a field sideways at approx 80mph. The damage was a knackered AST coilover on the front, two wheels damaged and a scrap R888. Accidents happen so today i got up nice and early and removed the shock which has now been sent to AST/powerstation and the wheels are going to be repaired (if possible tomorrow).
