Radar Detector

I am thinking to buy a radar detector but I know that the windscreen of 172 is coated with protecting layer from sunlight which affects the sensitivity of radar detector.

Does the radar detector still work although there is a small opening on the windscreen without coating?

Yeah you just have it by that area. Get a road angel if you must. Alternatively, slow down and use your eyes.
