Rattling Trophy

Obviously most Clios rattle pretty badly, but the Trophy being so stiff means it's got even more than my previous Renault Sport Clios had. Up to now I've put up with all of them as they weren't any different to past cars.

However, the panel on the inside of the right rear had a really nasty vibration which was really bad on some road surfaces, and then even worse when I put a decent head unit it!!

So today I decided I was going to stop some of the most irritating rattles. It appears that the panel could really do with another clip near the front edge, in front of the speaker and behind where the front seat belt runs. Both sides are loose there, but only one of mine was vibrating against the body work. Anyway, as it was driving me mad I grabbed a chunk of seat foam, cut it to size, eased the panel off and pushed it up into gap. Problem solved. It no longer rattles or vibrates, and I can finally crank the bass back up on my HU.

The rest of the rattles I can live with. :approve:

Thats a dangerous game to play lee.
Being a renault you could eventually end up driving round in one big sponge.lol

LMAO, good point. Maybe I should invest in a big tube of that stuff they pump into wall cavities?

For now ... you have just started a never ending task!

All Lee wants for Xmas is Silicon sealer, blue tack, sponge and cotton wool!

i've just done both front door cards today, very annoying rattle from around the window swithes, pretty sure i've found it, seemed that the card was rubbing against the metal work of the door...... fingers crossed it seems settled now.... two 50p car sponges later!!!!

now i'll just need to investigate the one in the roof lining.... my money is in the ariel cable

I need to stop my parcel shelf squeaking!! There's also a rattle behind the dash somewhere, but that can stay like it!

I've had the one in the middle of the dash one all 3 of mine. It comes and goes depending on the weather!!!

I can live with the rest, but a constant vibration is something I can't cope with.

Ive also got that rattle from the passenger side rear panel. I'll stick some bubble wrap in there and that should do it. My roof lining rattles as well.

My bodge worked a treat. Driven all the way to work this morning with some fine trance on and not a single rattle from the panel, or my bodged b2.

From a Design Engineer I'd like to say Foam isn't a bodge! lol it's really good for dampening vibration etc, I've used it in several designs

This is no help at all but turn your radio up thats all i do LOL
That's what made it even worse though, as the bass caused it to vibrate even more.

Maz, you can have a special prize if you like.;)

ive only had my 182 for 3 days and the squeak from the passenger seat is doing my head in. it is fine when there is a passenger, but when im alone every time you hit a bump it will squeak. gonna have to find a can of WD40 i think

welcome, grease will last longer...

The passenger seatbelt hitting the B-Pillar annoys me.

I had new runners on the 172 to stop the seat doing that, I gave up on the 182 and just live with it on the Trophy. The driver seat is so tight in the runners it's hard to move it, but the passenger one rattles a little.

I've solved the seat belt problem, you can hook it around the wings on the Recaros quite nicely.

i had a hefty lad sitting in my passenger seat yesterday and today i have noticed the squeaking is worse than ever. as i have had the car less than a week, should i take it back to the renault dealer and demand they fix the problem?
