're-oiling' air filter question.

Hi,

Ive got a quick question which i think i know the answer too but i just want to confirm. Ive got my pipercross on, but i think its a bit dirty and im thinking of getting the pipercross cleaning kit, and re oiling spray.

But i wondered if it was possible to Ghetto this job and save £10 odd. Obviously if its not advised i will pay for the cleaning kit.

Is it possible to clean the sponge in soapy water, Dry it out. And re-oil with WD40?

Or a bad idea?

Cheers for any help.

no.

The oil used in filters is THE particle retention media, the foam just is just used to suspend the oil. WD40 is too thin.
