Really want a 172 cup but...

Now thats what is called taking the pee, a little man that can't take a reasoned response from a private mail, that was to be honest at best as bad.
Now you seem able to lower yourself to airing your inadequacies in public. Go on. I don't feel the need.
Afterall, I'm confident enough to let you do it I could do the same, yet that would show that I'm as a low, attention seeking and insecure as you by doing so.

Stooping so pathetically low and childishly as to copy personal bits you chose to than you have just chosen to show how sad and insignificant you realy are. I have never driven a 172 personally, but I can safely have a guess that at £12000 it doesn't sport the best brakes on the planet.
I think someone mentioned going over a bump whilst braking heavily. This will of course decrease the friction that the tyre has, thus braking free and EITHER being corrected by ABS, or locking up on it's own.
I have a fair amount of road and track experience, not as much as some on here I guess, but hey. I can control slides to a degree and have saved over/understeer many a time.
However, I wouldn't like to have a car without ABS, for the pure reason, on that one day you're booting it and your front right wheel locks whilst coming up to a sharp turn, sure you can pump the brakes yourself, but you guys said yourself, you enjoy late braking. Coincedently, late braking doesn't allow for error, bye bye Cup, it's certainly no miracle that so many Cups get written off. And in that instance ABS would have saved the situation.
And to end the post on a quiz, why do Ferrari and Porsche fit their cars with ABS if it's so hardcore without ?? Simply because it's not, you could remove the ABS fuse from those cars, and would not be able to brake in a shorter distance.

I find it amusing how people can enter a debate, and not actually listen to the opinions of others. The whole point of debate is that everything is on the table. Opinions and facts. Most people take everything into the mix and stir it up so that they may learn more, and perhaps slightly alter their views and opinions.

We've talked about tyre slip percentage, feeling the pressure to stop the tryes slipping to the point where the wheel stops rotating etc. We've discussed how there is a difference between slip, and the wheel actually stopping rotating. We've discussed how ABS handles slip ie. it allows virtually none. We've had some good input from Mark, who's track driving and car craft I'd trust a lot more than an ex copper mouthing off on a forum calling people "boys" and "little men"
Despite all that, the likes of Blaze have continued to rant on without even taking in some of the facts being put on the table. Instead he has just made a complete spanner of himself. Personally, I view debate as a way of learning more, it seems some people view it as a way of shoving their views down everyone throats and resorting to petty childish insults when they dont like the inevitable backlash.

What it does do very well though, and is the reason that it is fitted to every road car now (including TVR's and Lotus Elises which from the outset and most of their model life cycle were sold without ABS), is to allow you to steer while braking so hard, that a non-ABS car would have skidded.

Whey hey, another testosterone reply. If you can drive your s2000 (ABS included) and you are so very very experienced you should and would know better. Facts are facts. I can prove it boy, as I'm now on a mission.
It's amazing how many young drivers have all the experience of performance cars without any proof. I'll do this once and once only. Anyone want to give me a meaningfull bet as to the braking distance of a standard 172 cup againsy a standrad 182 FF cupped from 80 - 0 in the wet. No bends, just a straight line. Each has a buddy to ensure fairness, I'll start at £1,000.
