Rear Drum Brakes

Recently noticed a noise form the bake brakes on my 1.2 dynamique.

heard two noises when driving down the road that sounded like something snapping - parked up and my handbrake was loose...however when i went back to the car it was fine (possibly adjusted itself)?

Now when i brake i get like a rubbing noise from the back left wheel (def comign from the brakes) and is quite loud (can be heard over stereo)

braking however is not affected at all.

any ideas?

How old is the car mate as Renault now do a 4 year, unlimited mileage on rear shoes/drums due to the amount of problems they've had with them.

If your confident enough get it jacked up and the drums off and have a look, shoe might have come off the backing.

sounds like the shoe has come off ..

is the drum warm after you drive the car ??
