Rear seatbelts - 172/Cup

Hi guys,

Is there a difference between the rear seatbelts in a 172ff and a cup?

I was due to buy one, but turns out the one I was going to buy didnt have a purple cable running from it, whereas the one I removed from my car did.

Would this be a problem if i was to put a cup seatbelt in (without the purple cable)?

both models are fitted with either of two different reels - either pre-tensioned (with the purple lead), or non-pre-tensioned (it's not a Cup/non-Cup difference - just depends which type was fitted to either model)

ed. they're the same across the Clio2 range by the way - doesn't need to come from a RS. have been told that the PT'd rears are relatively rare

so I could get the non-pretensioned seatbelt and use that?

you could, but you'd need to put a resistor in the plug for the P/T, otherwise (once you've had the airbag ECU reset) the system will recognise that the P/T's not connected and will illuminate the airbag warning lamp
