Refitting alternator belt

  Clio 182 cup
After spending all weekend replacing the water pump, tensioner and idler without shearing any bolts or mangling the gasket I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. However things are never that simple and I am now stuck trying to get the new belt back on.
The only way I can get it around all of the pulleys is to have the alternator out of its fixings. Then I can't get enough slack to correctly align the bolts.

It seems really tight. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I used the jubilee clip trick, will a tool for the tensioner make a difference?

Yep, jubilee on the tensioner. Alternator out of it's top fixing. Once the belt is on, use a lever bar to lift the alternator, slide that bolt in, then take off the jubilee. Simple.
