Removing oil from driveway...

Im not sure if this is the right section..
The Landrover has inevitably marked its territory on Dad's 'bricket' driveway. Whats the best stuff to get it out! I ve tried:

-Cif
-Washing up liquid
-AG Clean wheels!

Its better but its not really shifting, anyone else had this problem with oil?
Any thoughts appreciated,

Alex

I spilt 2 litres on the drive yesterday - doh! Don't ask !

Not brick just concrete, tried the fairy liquid and apc route first and it looked better, but not ideal so went to halfords and got some Swarfega stuff, looks better still but still a bit discoloured, so in the same boat.

I have heard there is a product called brick acid ?

unfortunately because the brick will be slightly porus the stain will have penetrated into it so you can only make it slightly 'better'.

You can get an acid patio cleaner from wilco's / homebase / B+Q that will help a bit, though you'll end up with a cleaner patch where you have been scrubbing (with a stiff yard brush) so best to do the whole area (hope the drive isn't big). Over time it will fade through the sun and weather etc..

I had the same problem when my gf's car dumped ps hydro fluid allover the drive.

Panda pop! (the only thing it's good for)

That just reminded me ^^^ n one of those posts, When I worked at a garage we used a bag of cement and dropped a shovel over the spill (too late for you now sorry, but anyone else in the future) it soaks up the stain using capillary action so lessens the amount soaking into the floor. Someone on yahoo mentioned kitty litter, suppose it'd be similar.

rather than going out buying products just to remove the stain, id just go to the builders merchants+get some new ones. Obviously take a sample block with you, to make sure your getting the right ones. As already mentioned, the oil wil have penetrated the block, so there will always be something there.

All the above methods, but if you put some talc powder (quite a lot, so its heaped) over the spill it soaks up a lot of it...although your drive looks stupid/ you have a massive coke problem in the meantime!

Cheers guys I will give some of these methods a try, im not sure its possible to remove a block and replace it...
This is the drive btw (sorry I haven't got a picture without the car on it!) Its only a couple of small spots but the drive is only a few years old and cost a great deal more than the Landrover!

Try brick acid, it will work. Its proper lethal tho, and i mean lethal. just put it on and leave it for a while, jet wash off. It'll burn your hands, gloves ftw...

The acid they use to get the white marks off bricks. Its called brick acid from a builders merchant or rebranded as patio cleaner at B&Q and such like.

Nono I meant what type of acid. Hydrochloric/sulphuric/hydroflouric etc.....

EDIT: it wont be hydroflouric thats some pretty nasty stuff lol

Tried AG machine/engine cleaner scrubbed in with an old toothbrush yesterday, seems to have worked a treat.

Try Megs super de-greaser if you have any problems.

Failing that, it is certainly possible to replace individual bricks. Would be very cheap too, say £10 for materials and 1/2 day to replace half a dozen blocks
