Removing VVT Solenoid

Can this easily be removed? Is it just a case of simply removing a few bolts? Nothing is going to fall into the cylinder head? I want to check mine isnt stuck open and maybe clean it up.

no iirc its cambelt off job, how technically minded are ya chap? def something i wouldnt tackle in a hurry

the solenoid valve itself is on top of the cylinder head though, i think you are talking about the phaser.

yea, just the one 10mm bolt and pull out the solenoid.

Cheers ben. The manuals says something about a special tool needed to refit the solenoid seal :S. Do i need this tool or are there ways and means to fit the seal without ??

Ive never done it but renault always say theres special tools for pushing in seals, you can always improvise with bits in your garage.

The seal doesnt come out with it, and it only needs replacement if it gets damaged (nicked or torn etc).....which practically never happens apart from user error.

Just unbolt and lift it out, then slide it back in when done.
