Renault lifting Jack

Hi, I was just wandering if anyone else has experienced problems with the jack provided with the clios?

As the other night when I got a flat tyre, i got all the stuff out of the boot, placed the jack under the car and tried to lift it. The jack wouldnt lift the car, and the rubbish alloy handle just bent when i tried to turn it!!!

Eventually I had to go and wake up my girlfriends dad up at night to borrow his hydraulic jack, which had no problems.

Took it back to Renault and they said they havent had any problems, and to leave the jack with their mechanics.

There have been problems with jacks damaging jacking points in the past, but Ive never heard of a jack failing to lift the car!!

i had mine replaced by renault cuz the 1st time i used it the b*****d think fell apart. thankfully had my dads jack to hand and was at home on the drive if it had been on the motorway i would have been f**ked

The one in my 182 worked fine! I could get two wheels to lift off simultaneously!

On the other hand, the one in my N 1.2 clio failed to work (but that was after the warranty ran out)... Had to buy another one, which didnt fit where the OEM jack was situated.

If you get no joy, swap it with another from one of their courtesy cars!

yeah mine folded under my car the other week
(had to cut it out from under car with a hacksaw and a hammer)

What kind of damage do you mean (telford_mike)? As i have noticed that the panel by the lifting area looks slightly out of place now! Almost as if lifting the car there bent it!

Same here, havent tried to fix it yet tho!

I think Ill try mine out, so i can get it replaced if there is a problem under warrenty.
