Renault Quote on Belt change

  Clio 172 Cup
Just had the car booked in for the bonnet catch, never been in for recall.

They did there normal car health check and noted the belt was due.

I said i'd need a bank loan for Renault to do it.

He gave me a price which I didn't think was bad at all.

full cam and aux change with water pump and loan car £510 all in.

He showed me and screen and said Renault say we should charge £745 without the pump.

Anyone had run in's with Evans Halshaw Wessington Way Sunderland?

It's cheap by their standards, but when you consider most specialists will do it for £100-ish less than that, and probably do a better job, there's only one choice.

You should also have the dephaser pulley changed as well at the same time fyi. I notice how they didnt mention that :nono:

oh goody another myth is taking off

This isn't necessary at all unless it's actually noisy. I clean them out thoroughly with every belt change and it's been noted to reduce noise at idle by a few customers

never seen an F4R waterpump fail either

^^ i thought similiar!

BUT, last week, had a 182 in, done 40K and the pump was leaking! Luckily had one on the shelf.

If the dephasers noisey and your due a belt change then probably worth while getting it done but as Danny says its not a required parts service item.

Water pumps another. Going from on here they dont seem to be a problem so unless your on high miles and its never been done is it worth the extra 69 quid?

I know the specialists are cheaper and be alot better service, but it's a 400 mile round trip to either of the garages.

thats £65 in fuel along with the effort of driving.

I was going to make a day and night of it and pop to birchtown with the wife cause am off work start of feb.

^^I was in the same boat mate. Job was a little more expensive local but worked out cheaper in the long run with petrol costs
