Renault Sport CAD Drawing

  Bumder With A Buffer
Hello guys, after a bit of help from someone.

My latest mod has been to put a PC into my car, il post some pictures up soon, the thread is on here somewhere that i started about it.

Anyway my latest little "whazz" is to install a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. A nice sexy voice tells me "Tyre Pressure too low" and various other bits!

Anyways i wanted to know if anyone has a decent CAD drawing of either a Cliosport that i can use in my program. A sample BMW one is shown below.

Doesnt have to be that colout as i will change it in paintshop!

Sensors matey!!!

A sensor mounted in each wheel that measures pressure/temperature. Me and another guy have hacked together a device that allows it to pass information out via usb to a pc.

I doubt it although it would be nice! Ive got some kits coming over from the far-east and i dont think they will be here in time.

As soon as they are i will be showing it off though!

Why not??? Why do some people spend money adding bodykits to cars etc?? Can they not get laid and want attention!!?? ; )

Main reasons were couldnt be bothered to have loads of cd's flying around in my car. Plus i wanted satnav and a few other bits. Basically the PC does everything in one atm.

So i have almost unlimited amount of space for MP3's, it plays dvds, It controls my phone so i press a button and it comes through all the speakers, I can listen to the radio on it, it has GPS, I can connect it to ODB to read that, I can make it control my aircon, it can control unlocking the doors......

ANd a lot more ; )

Or you could just check them regularly at the garage? :coffee:

All cars soon will come with them. Id like to see you check it when your driving along and have a blowout as you had a puncture. At least you have a warning an can act accordingly. All Yank cars now made come with them and it wont be long till that happens over here.

Renault obd-II interface support is a bit s**t.

Its not like a VAG car.

Richy22, don't worry about it. You'll always get people thinking its a bad idea. I actually think it's a great idea, and had I got the balls to cut up my dash (wanna keep it intact), then I'd be doing the same!

One thing I think could be quite good is you know them USB ECU configuration adaptors (I'm thinking www.fastchip.nl for a good example), you'd be able to change your ECU maps on the fly, when and where you wanted to. Also, it ouputs some pretty good info, and I'm not sure what language your doing the interface in (C++ or Visual basic I'm guessing), but I'm sure you'd be able to mash together something to make a nice display of stuff you don't normally see - Lambda sensor output/ Amount of litres left in your tank - the kind of stuff you can only really do with a computer. Yeah, I'm sure you'll get people thinking it is a geeky thing to do, but I don't care - I am a geek! :D
The tyre pressure guage is a really good one to start with - how often have you been driving along and thought "hmmm, my tyres feel a little spongey". I check mine weekly (yes, I really do!), but there have still been times when I have thought that!

Thats my point....

Ive been driving along and thougth christ my cars pulling, turns out i had a puncture, and i have been drving along before and the tyre decided to blow, again this was a puncture and if i had an advance warning i could of slowed down instead of almost killing myself!

Exactly. My dad's new Leon has tyre pressure monitors as standard. Anything that helps with safety can't be a bad thing!

I'll be really interested to see the full set-up when you get it done. Only thing is, I have a feeling it's one of them things that'll never quite be finished - you'll always want to improve one more thing... ;)

Correct... always looking for better things and "hacking" software to work.

Have actually got a GPS system that runs on Google Earth Maps.

THat is cool and a bit surreal using that!!

Look at where phones are going and increasingly they are going to be the computers we all carry everywhere, including in our cars.

Phone calls? Tick.

E-mail? Tick.

Navigation? Tick.

Playing MP3s? Tick.

OBD-II interface capability? Its possible.

Anyway enough chossing of my car pc!!

Anyone help me with the CAD picture please???

(chossing = taking the p i s s!!)

Ah... Is it just the ISO view your after? I'm sure you can take a photo of the car and import it into Adobe Illustrator to create a vector outline... Some of the Graphic Design lads may be able to help there. Think you can just sketch the outline of the car with some detail... I'm sure a wire frame model can be imported into CAD no problem, then export to Illustrator to delete any unwanted hidden lines etc...

I'm sure there was a section on the renault sport website where you could select motorsport parts... that had a wireframe model on that was interactive!
