Renault Uk (Strut Top Mounts)

Was talking to a couple of Renault RTE's and they said there was something in place called an "active Soloution" or something to fix top strut mounts on renault sports a few years back.

This was not a warrenty issue but it was a fix and was to be carried out if requested or if there was a problem with the top strut mounts and the fix was to grind the mount and fit a spacer or something along they lines.

After 15mins on the phone to Renault Uk and trying to find out if the 182 had this "active Soloution" thing it turns out that the 182's and the V6's did not fall into this and that it only applied to 172's.

The oonly way for 182's and V6's to get the modded part is to buy the new strut top mount kit for the car.

Looks like i will be going for solid AST ones afterall

common knowledge mate, The V6 DID suffer from it but they fitted the spacers from factory so it never happened, and that's how i discovered "the fix"

the old fix from the dealers was to grind the metal work = a bodge

so Renault knew about the fix but never bothered doing anything about it, then when i made everyone aware of the washers it became the offical renault fix, funny that

the top mounts have now been moddified so if you buy new ones you won't have a problem, well apart from Renault not selling the spacer as part of the top mount kit LOL

Fred i will be getting you to do the AST soilds when i get my finger out my backside and get the car down to you with a list as long as your arm and a Asda bag full of used notes

Actis solution

Also on the sports, the washer was never a fix on actis. It was on the normal clios but not on the sports. They actually gave you a diagram to show you which part of the strut mounting area to grind away.

My car does it bad, its a 2004 RS Clio 172, worth giving them a ring?

EDIT: It only just started doing it and when i've been driving for 30mins or more.

sorry for sounding like a novice, but strut top mounts being top of the suspension? mine are squeaking like a pig at the moment (i think its them anyway)

and so if i ring renault what you reckon will get said?
