• New Clio opens a fresh chapter in the Clio epic that began in 1990 and has seen the model go from strength to strength
  • New Clio carries over the same qualities that saw Clio III take the 'Car of the Year ' award in 2006, namely benchmark cabin space, safety, comfort and roadholding, as well as the same rigorous build quality that has made it one of its segment's most reliable models
  • New Clio features:
    • the same dynamic cues as those which have become the hallmarks of New Mégane's frontal design
    • a new GT version, enabling more Clio customers to sample extra Va Va Voom
    • Carminat TomTom, the first fully integrated and affordable GPS navigation solution. Co-developed with TomTom, the system will be easily updateable via the internet and has a large colour screen. It also includes traffic and speed limit information, as well as safety camera locations, all for a price of less than £500
  • The motoring public can take a closer look at New Renault Clio at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show
New design reinforcing Clio's family ties with New Mégane
New Clio sits squarely on the road and boasts revised styling, with the lines of the new headlamps now extending down to the lateral upturns of the front air intake. The broad grille in the lower part of the new front bumper sets off the dynamic styling with the presence of gloss black protective mouldings. The revised design of the rear lights extends the waist line across the hatch, while the uncluttered approach to the design of the central part of the rear bumper further emphasises New Clio's dynamic stance. The reversing lights and foglamps are positioned low down and to the extreme corners of the rear bumper.

The choice of the new interior trims and equipment aims to produce a sense of well-being and quality with the screen of the new Carminat TomTom GPS navigation system integrated into the upper part of the centre console.
New Clio GT: a new sport version
As with other Renault models, a GT version forms part of the New Clio range. Its frontal styling is more aggressive and includes a gloss black grille, while the extended side sills hint at the performance of the GT’s specific suspension settings. New Clio GT is easily recognizable from the rear thanks to its twin exhaust tailpipes and lip spoiler and features an exclusive body colour, Malta Blue.

There are eye-catching sports details inside the car, too, including drilled aluminium pedal covers and extra side support for the seats, plus GT-badging for the front seats.
Carminat TomTom: the first fully integrated, updatable and affordable navigation
Renault's latest GPS navigation, Carminat TomTom, is the fruit of the carmaker's partnership with TomTom to bring affordable, integrated navigation to Renault customers. Ready to start working from the moment the car is started and particularly easy to use, the system ensures Clio 2009 drivers benefit from safe and stress-free motoring.

Some Carminat TomTom’s features are:
  • an easy-to-read 5.8 inch (14.7cm) colour screen (larger than that of removable systems) for the display of detailed birds-eye view maps,
  • reliable, updateable navigation complete with traffic, safety camera locations and speed limit information,
  • at a price of less than £500
All the fundamentals of Clio III
New Clio boasts the same qualities that saw Clio III earn the 'Car of the Year ' award in 2006, namely:

  • benchmark interior space and comfort

I like it tbh. The only one out of the mk3 i like is the 197, but think the base models will look pretty good now.

  Clio 1.2 Billabong
I can't see the point of forking out 500 nicker extra for a satnav, when you can spend £300 on a decent tomtom, which you can position where you like and use in other cars as well, plus it's easier to replace when it becomes obsolete. Maybe if the screen could be used for other things like DVD and reversing camera it would be ok.

Twino mated with Laguna!....Not a nice lookin car. That said i'm sure i said the same about the 197...Like it now.

hate the low down reflectors on the rear, always look a bit cheap in my mind, but I like if from the front :)

  Nissan 350z
I like the GT. Wierd how they have ditched the flared wheel arches which they favored on other models that featured side skirts :)

  Clio v6
Different looking wee thing with bits stuck on it. I wonder if the sat nav comes out easliy or will it need a decent crow bar?

  3 x Renaults + Lexus
I really like it cant wait to see the Hot version....

Same with the new Meg the 5 door is gash, but the 3 Door looks nice again cant wait for the Hot model

I saw them testing this on Pistonheads i think, i thought it was going to be a clio 4 as it looked very megane shaped just smaller. (It was covered in that black stuff so couldnt really see it). I like it well the front :p

I like that, i'm wanting a new car but insurance is just too much on rs versions of the clio, but if the GT is cheap enough to insure i may well get one.

When will we find out insurance groups, performance figures and prices?

Think i seen it mentioned somewhere it will have a 150bhp engine so prob n/a

are they - renault - not releasing a 1.4TCE (turbo) soon? they could fire a de-tuned version of that in the GT. 150bhp, that would make it a direct competitor to the corsa sri?

Yeah, its a TCE 130. Supposed to have near 200 ft lbs of torque, but I read that in a French magazine so I could be wrong!! As a Mk3 owner, I have to say I really do like that. The only thing I dont like very much is the Twingo style mirrors. I actually prefer the current shape mirrors, although they could do with being a bit deeper.

oh, is it only 130bhp. probably wont be using that then, given that the dynamique s uses a 2.0 n/a with 138hp.

i read on evo that it might use the 2.0T from the old megane GT.

really dont like it...dont like the way car companies are making all the different car models look the same....... its like saying hey i could of bought the new megane but i couldn't afford it so i had to settle with the clio lol

That would be too close to th power output of the 197. If Ive learned anything in 15 years of owning and driving Renaults, they have to leave a big performance gap between the fastest non sport and the RS car. Its an incentive to buy the car. Are they not doing away with the 2.0 n/a 138 because of emissions regulations? The 1.4 TCE 130 is a low emissions engine and apparently very light too.

they need a 2.0 turbo (200bhp+) to give it back some credibility. Didn't like the MkIII and i'm not impressed with the Ph2 either.

It'd be the easiest and cheapest bit of development they've ever done. They've got good turbo experience and plenty of 2.0 blocks (not to mention the meg block)
