Rev Counter Wiring on mk1 Clio

  Clio Dynamique 16v

Hi, Ive put a set of RN clocks into my RL, that all work fine, apart from the rev counter. I have bought a haynes, and from it, I know that the rev counter works off pin 8 of the 13 pin plug, which is a pink wire with a red tracer.

This wire is not on my RL and I need to add it to work the rev counter.

Is there somewhere in the car wiring loom on a 98 mk1 1.2i RL I can get a rev counter feed from, or do I have to get one from the engine. Does anyone know which wire do I need to tap, into and where is it? I have looked at the plugs on the EDIS but there is no pink / red wire there.

Any help would be great!

Cheers, Jon

Well, just trace back from that pink wire to where it goes and connect a new wire there.. thats what I would do.

When I did it, I didnt have RN dials so it was totally different.. ended up paying £75 to get the rev counter converted to work with the 1.2 DIET engine. The RN had the DIET engine and the rev counter, so it should be a lot easier!

Anyway, trace wire back and see where it goes.

Daz, thanks for the reply, but the pink / red wire is not there on my RL, only on the RN etc. I need to connect a new wire one side to the dials and one side to a rev counter feed...

Cheers, Jon

Yea.. find out where the wire goes, get some suitable wire and put it in!

Bit odd it isnt there.. usually the same loom on most models.

Cheers again Daz, Ill have a go tomorrow...

Is there somewhere on the engine I can get the feed just incase I cant trace where the wiring goes inside the car? Will one of the wires on the EDIS work? Which one? Sorry for all the questions!

Cheers, Jon

Dunno if one on the eDIS will work.

I had to connect mine to the eDIS but then, my whole rev counter was converted to something, dunno what.. heh. It read wrong but it had an adjuster which could make it read right.

Just look in a Haynes manual and trace it.. then put a seperate new wire in to wherever it goes.
