Rich, I was offered to borrow a trailer for mine but as I dont have a tow vehicle big enough thats not going to happen.

So ill be hiring a transit transporter and driving to RS Tuning myself.
To hire the transit is £100 for the day, I also don't trust anyone to deliver my car safely and I also wanted to meet Paul and see the car run.

You could ask that lee guy on here who delivers cars if his going that way. Might work out cheaper.

I know what you mean about not trusting people with my car, especially giving the keys to someone I've only met that day. I also had a bad experience with Shiply when they tried to pick up the RB 182 I bought a couple of years ago, they damaged the front cup splitter trying to load it on the trailer. Long story but the bloke was an absolute bell3nd after that and it tainted the whole experience.

I found this company on E Bay, fairly local to me so I'll call them tomorrow morning

I actually browsed Autotrader and found a Renault Laguna estate diesel with a towbar, Plan Z in my head was to buy it to tow the trailer then sell it next week :clown:

I have tomorrow to sort something out, I've rang a few friends tonight so we'll see what turns up in the next 24hrs. The last e mail I had from Shiply was £204 to transport it, I'll send the transport company an e mail to see whether I could go up with the Clio.

Maybe a daft question guys but cant they be driven gently?

With the Meg 225 injectors and Walbro pump mine turns over but won't idle, far too rich. I dont want to or have the bits to swap back, would just rather trailer it knowing I haven't coursed any damage to the engine. The trailer and towing vehicle were booked in advance, it's just put a spanner in the works getting the call this late to try and sort an alternative. It's just one of those things I have to deal with

Hi mate, when my dad had his supra transported from Wickford to Rochester in Kent for being painted he used a company from billericay/Brentwood. I think they charged £150 for return journey but that was for the biggest recovery truck they had as the supra was on dollys/casters and needed the widest bed truck.
Do you want me to try find the company number if it would help?
We followed in our car behind to make sure it was delivered ok, but we could of been in the truck if we wanted to.

Here's a photo of our car on the transporter to show what I mean

The website is - http://www.easterngeneralrecovery.co.uk

And there phone number is 01277 227691

We used there Mercedes vario truck.

Hope that helps

Well, after the dramas of the towing vehicle no go earlier this week I finally managed to get another sorted yesterday morning. I picked up the trailer after work yesterday, put the Clio on and left this morning at 7am. 11 hours and 468 miles later I'm back at home. Had a good chat with Chris for 45 minutes about all the work that will be done and where it will be on the end figure. Can't wait to pick it up now and drive it home.

Chris is a top bloke and really friendly. It'll be in good hands with him. He's currently wiring the loom for and mapping my friends corsa.

I saw a white Corsa tucked up in the corner of the workshop, was it that one? There was a green Corsa being put on the rollers just as I was leaving

  Many.
Beardy? Didn't realise he was at that point of his build! Should be bloody epic once its finished, its been a long time coming!

  Many.
Is there anyone that doesn't know Adam? LOL!

Yeah his. It's been there a few weeks now. So close to finally being done!

Must be a few, but I used to have a Corsa, so knew of him then. Will have to keep an eye out for it.

Sorry for going offtrack Ricardo :)

A friend of a friend is a car dealer and had a SsangYong Rexton 4x4 available to let me use. His mate has asked him to sell it while he's in Spain so he let me borrow it

Beggars can't be choosers, it did the job. I'm glad it was diesel though as it cost me £110 to get up to Runcorn and back.

As for washing it, I know, to think I had 3 weeks to do that job :nono:

No excuses really, it's going to have a mini detail when it comes back by a friend so it should look half decent.

I was going to say Rich that if you had bought something then id be up for hiring it off of you for my trip to Pauls.

When is it going to be finished mate?

When is it going to be finished mate?

It nearly came to that Scott. I was going to buy a Renault Laguna diesel estate with a towbar for £600 last Thursday, use this weekend then sell it on or get shot of my other Laguna and keep the estate. I would have just let you use it mate no worries.

I'd say hire the Transit transporter, the cheapest and easiest way to get the Clio up to RS Tuning. When are you booked it at RS?

Chris has mine for 7-10 days, 10 days absolute max allowing for any scenario. But, as it's too far for me to pick it up during a week day and with me losing a days money taking the day off, the absolute latest date for me to pick it up is Saturday 31st May.

Ive not booked it in with Paul yet mate, i want to get it running 1st and make sure everythings ok.

Fingers crossed it will be running this weekend if my upper inlet comes back from the paint shop.

I could drop yours back @Ricardos and grab Scott.. @Phase1sr Lol.. Dab hand after my 13 hr trek yesterday. .

If it all goes to plan then id like to take it to Pauls on a thursday and wait with it while its being done, then i'll chuck it back on the truck and come home.
Hoping to take Sun_glasses with me for a bit of a road trip.

How come Chris keeps them a week but Paul only a day? Is it because after market ecu takes longer? Serious question??

Chris is wiring in the Adaptronic into the OE loom as a piggy back for the boost side of things (ignition and fuel) the stock ECU stays to keep most of the OE 182 factory features.

He's mapping from scratch and believe he'll need to check the map for every scenario (cold start, running from cold) full throttle in every gear to make sure it's all safe for when i get it back.

As it's supercharged the boost is a completely different setup, with turbo's you can adjust the actuator to run more psi then more boost as long as the fuel and ignition is good for it. With the supercharger there's a restrictor fitted just after the supercharger with a certain diameter internal hole 'restricting' the air entering the inlet manifold. The bigger the diameter in theory more power, i have a 28mm restrictor fitted in the pipework.

What could happen is that the 28mm restrictor might 'only' give peak 230bhp, so another restrictor with a slightly bigger diameter hole will be fitted to get more power. Basically i have 4 restrictors made and if needed will be used to reach an end figure of 250hp, you never know the 28mm might hit the 250 mark straight away..... We'll see.

These are exciting times, you must be moist!

Weirdly.. Not yet, well a little. I think a bit more when I hear some feedback from Chris at some point during the mapping process (if he does that, I don't know) It hasn't sunk in that within 2 weeks time I'll be getting into a Clio with potentially 250 horsepower. I have absolutely no idea what it will be like which is why I think I'm holding back on the excitement for now. I imagine the biggest grin will be when I drive it for the first time in over 3 months with potentially 80 more bhp and 50 ft/lbs torque.

Hi Rich, you've made great progress with this now since we last spoke via pm, I havnt had chance to get on & read through your thread till now but top work mate, bet you can't wait till it's all finished now, your going to love s/c power

Bias opinion Craig?!? Lol

Lol not at all mate I just love how mine drives/performs with a supercharger compared to turbo. Ask WilkyWay he might agree lol, don't get me wrong both perform great on little clios I wouldn't be disappointed with either.

Such a fookin fast car!

Went out for a bit of a blast tonight when Craig picked the bumper up. Verrrry impressed, and i gotta say the power delivery is as good as if not better than any turbo car I've driven, instant power and torque. The throttle is a 300+hp button with a loooad of grip.
Seriously made me think about taking the potato off and putting a supercharger on.
Taken from my thread.

Really appreciate the comments Craig :) and thanks for taking the time to reply to the PMs regarding questions on the conversion, it's been a big help.

I sent Chris an e mail last night about a couple of things I needed to let him know, I had a reply today. I thought the last part of his reply was quite cool in that it said " I'll send over some results once I've had a play with it on the dyno" so I'm looking forward to seeing some kind of graph at some point :)

It should be ready 31st May the latest, I'm seriously considering FCS which I believe is the weekend after. I wouldn't mind it on the stand if I do go but the decision will be a last minute one. Are you going then?
