Richbrook gear knob for 182 cup

  182 Cup
Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with fitting a Richbrook gear knob on a 182 cup? Do they thread on? How do they secure to the stick? Is getting the old one off a difficult task?

Any information would be great,

Thanks,

Alex

The Richbrook ones have an integrated screw so the knob is placed on the stick and the screw tightened with an allen key. They fit beautifully but you MUST order a "lift reverse" one. Don't go by photos on websites as the photos are not always accurate, read the description to check it's for lift reverse.

In my view, although others may feel otherwise, you can/should only cut the old one off. The difficulty with pulling the old one off is that there is nothing to grip except the "pull up reverse" collar and with not a lot of twisting force, that could break. The collar is not stuck/bonded to the inner metal stick, it is located by a couple of pins in the metal stick. If you twist it hard enough, the collar risks breaking.
Also, in trying to pull or tap it off, you are applying a lot of force on the mechanism. Bear in mind there is a ball joint and bushes at the base of the mechanism. Cutting is the least intrusive way.
