I detest my ring door bell.
No matter what I tweak on the settings, it seems to pick up stupid things and send a notification

But when I get a guy push something through the door and walk up the length of the drive, I get footage of him walking back down drive

Bag of w**k

I’ve got 6 Various types of ring cameras all round our house, you’ll be amazed what your neighbours get up to when you have cameras.

My cheapo Await doorbell cam seems to be dying and the app will no longer let me change the sensitivity/speed settings, so it's no longer catching people walking up to the door until they have been there a few seconds. So thinking of getting a new Ring cam. Had a look on Ring website and the battery powered ones seem to be twice the price of a powered one. Am I right in thinking they are the same camera internals, just one runs off a 12v power supply from inside?

I've gone back to Ring from Eufy.

I found that the battery life on Eufy was crap Vs that of ring, I also prefer the app on ring.

Yeah there's a subscription, but it works and it works well.

We've now got the battery doorbell pro, 2 x spotlight cams, and the full alarm system.

I'm thinking of getting the powered one, with the adaptor, and a chime for £79.99, then the subscription is £4.99 a month. I already pay £30 a year for this camera I have now, so it's not much difference.

i would have recommend Eufy, but we have a bit of an issue with ours, it seems a little hit and miss on who it picks up, my lad seems to be able to walk pas it most of the time without it picking him up, need to have a look at the setting, but the detection area etc seems to be set correctly, and the sensitivity is turn up to almost full.

I believe it's 5v for a normal doorbell mate

Not a doorbell but a Ring indoor camera.

I am getting one for free but don't want a subscription to Ring. Does anyone know if the 2nd gen indoor camera has any internal storage? I can't find anything about it anywhere so I'm assuming not.

Was going to stick it in my garage but probably will end up flogging it and getting a eufy one to match my current system.

I’ve got two inside, dont think it has any internal. I’ve got 4 Ring cameras/doorbell so just pay the subscription as any more than 1 is the same price.

I've got one in the toilet bowl and one in the shower ceiling fan, fitted them when sister in-law came to stay.

I would recommend selling and getting the one which works with the rest of your system.

Better still get Eufy and don't pay any subscription at all.
Yeah I won't be mate. Its coming free with a dog insurance so I paid nothing so was going to use if I could. I'll more than likely just get a eufy one as that way it will link with my homebase thing or whatever it's called in my house

No, it'll be running on 2.4ghz, which is quite a congested frequency these days, as in distance from the router etc and you'll increase the lag.

Id recommend checking the channels being broadcast in your range, and see if you can find a less cluttered one.

A Eufy doorbell is what you need!
Better build quality, no fees and better alerts and footage.

Recommend kit to buy?

Depends on what you want to do in future if adding other eufy products later homebase 3 is a must imo.

Wait till they have very good discount sales on usually every month or so.

I have 2 cameras and the original video doorbell and various other cameras etc at parents houses.

All been faultless as is customer service

Eify/Anker customer service is w**k 😂
I bought a solix c1000 with solar panel, and wanted to return it as its a bit too heavy for me to carry around.

They refused.

After pointing out that returning is my statutory right, they offered a 30% discount, and so Ania said she'd just keep it and she would be the one lugging it around.
We used it and agreed to their offer, which they immediately rescinded, lowering it to just £30.
I'm sure we could've pressed for the return despite it being used, but at that point I didn't think they were going to be easy work, so we just kept it with the £30 discount.

I'm tempted to do the same. Our Eufy can be so slow at times and I find the loading times on my Android phone is way longer than the missus iPhone, plus it's been hit or miss with notifications the last couple weeks

Any offers about, had a look tonight, decorating wall tomorrow & the bellbox has power to door bell so would I be better getting the powered one, if so which one?

These doorbells typically work on 24v I believe, not sure what you've got going to it?

Ezviz db1c, can be fitted to existing wiring and use the existing chime, just needs wiring changed about and a power box fitted that comes with it.

Prime Day thread bump.

Been looking at this one, but in all honesty I have no idea what I’m supposed to be checking spec wise:

I think I’ll need to add a separate chime and I can see a bundle deal with an extra battery for £117 which seems reasonable. I like the parcel camera and no subscription costs.

Reviews look to mention crap battery and laggy notifications, but that seems to be common feedback across multiple brands.

What’s the consensus from videodoorbell.net - any good or better out there for the money?

I found the Eufy doorbell s**t if I'm honest, battery didn't last well, notifications were slow and missed, and the app was quite laggy.

Changed to a ring, pay the subscription and tbh it's miles better, I have a spare battery that gets charged once every 3-4 months and swapped over, we get all the notifications and it isn't really laggy at all.

Only irritating thing is despite answering the door it always says 'im sorry we're not available to answer the door right now'

Just to counter the above, im still having a real mixed time with Ring stuff.

My big big front camera, with light, seems to just work when it fancies. There is 100% something wrong connectivity wise, but its literally less than 3m away from my router (Fiber) so I cannot fathom why its pissing around. Just as a reminder, this is my 4th big camera now and this is meant to be the 'best outdoor' one, after I kicked off so much they upgraded me.

Doorbell seems to be working just fine still, all dandy there.

Chime seems to have s**t the bed randomly too. Keeps flashing saying its offline, for no reason at all.

Side camera gives me odd notifications sometimes, saying its stopped receiving power. However, id attribute that to the previous owners shite wiring over anything else.

No complaints with the TP Link stuff, been working flawlessly for a couple of years, battery lasts for 6-8months, recharge is super simple (battery has a USB C on it). Software is stable, has a separate hub (included) which has an SD card slot so no subs.

They have a cheaper model too now, no clue what its like. Hub seems smaller so maybe doesn't have the SD card storage?

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the top one. i replaced my Ring doorbell with it. The Hub also has a loud chime which is decent, connects to Alexa etc. too but the hub chime is instant.

Get a eufy with homebase 3 expandable for other wleufy cameras at a later date if required .
I have 3 cameras and doorbell for years never had any issues set zone just to cover the areas required and battery will last months in bell.
Notifications are fast and consistent cant fault em tbh.

Yeah my external cams ain't great. Even with a super strong and stable connection it still lags and misses things.

Still tempted to bin it off for a Ring but don't think Ring do an equivalent outdoor camera with light

Had my Eufy doorbell for 2 & 1/2 years, the battery lasts 3-4 months between charges, the app works fine and my notifications are within a couple of seconds, but I do have fast full fibre internet.

Some Eufy models have a swappable battery as well BTW.
