Iv got a road angel two with an internal ariel, it still takes about ten to 15 mins to find signal in my car, surely this isnt normal, how long does every1 else take to find signal?

What can i do about it?

Do a search mate, a few threads about additional internal antennas, mine worked in the window square but would not clear the wipers for laser and drop signal, plus take longish to start up, now have the extra 5m antenna sat next to the parcel shelf works 100% now.

Buy and external ariel. Your need a 5m one, think most people (including myself) have put it by the rear parcel shelf. Try doing a search been mentioned on here a few times.

in a mk1 172

30 seconds to 2 mins depending on which direction the car is facing

Ive got it on the magnet not the metal carrier

dont switch the unit off b4 you park the car and have the unit ready to go b4 you put the key in the ignition, good luck works for me hope it dose for you

Mine has been a bit tempremental this last week or so. Been taking between 5-15mins. I have 5m aerial which is installed at back ledge by parcel shelf.

It does work well once it gets signal though. I think ill try M1 2LTRs advice about plugging it in before ignition start up.

Incidentally, anyone know of any posts or advice on hardwiring the Road Angel 2?? I cant seem to find anything anywhere!

Cheers

Mine has been awful over the last few days. Only had it a couple of weeks as well.

It used to take ages to find a satelite and rarely picks up speed cameras! (I drove through 3 on Sunday night) and it didnt go off once. I think its because I had it positioned by the wiper blades and now I have moved it over to the right a bit so it can but have yet to take it anywhere where there are cameras.

Also just had to order a new power cable for it as I snagged the straight one in the glove box and broke it. :(

The aquisition of the GPS Sattelites is depedant on how long it was since the unit was last on.

It shouldnt make a difference to it sensing speed cameras as long as you had sattilite signal, as it works on GPS (global positioning system) Technology

Have you

1. updated you road angel since owning it (i.e it doesnt say please register) when switched on?

2. Got the additional aerial for coverage boost?

It shouldnt have missed 3 cameras, hope they didnt flash ya!!

I have registered and updated it. I dont have the additional aerial, will it make a difference?

Yeah it does, especially helps when going through areas with trees covering the sky. Its because of the heat reflective screen

Phone Blackspot on 01327 855 586 and ask for the 5metre one, so it reaches the back of the car (i.e the back windscreen where there is no heat reflective screen), it is a square block about 3cm by 3cm, only £20 but worth it.

Do a serach on road angel 2 aerial

Thinking about buying one of these next for my valver, will it be the same? if so could i just put it near the sunroof?

My internal aerial only works when near the back. got it running through rubber seem above the drivers door then behind the plastic trim above the back window. it hangs down about 2 inches. its not quite long enough to reach the shelf. AS long as its near the back window, it should work within 5 minutes.

if it doesnt work in the first few minutes, pressing the menu button once can help it pick up a signal. also when stopped at traffic lights after a few minutes driving. it picks one up

Its the UV film on the window screen. You can get a booster but then have to frig about with the fitting etc. I mounted mine on the top right hand side of the screen removed the film from the screen - take care with razor blade.
