Rollcages

Car  Vee 6
A reasonable cage for track use is next on the list, I've sent out a few E-mails but nothing really coming back.

Bolt in cage, Ideally supplied with mounting plate's / posts and ideally one that doesn't need the dashboard cut up or needs door cards trimmed or removed.

Options and experiences please lads.....

Safety Devices Cage - supplied by Mark Fish.

He can supply them for you to fit or he can do it for you.

He installed the one in my car and did a superb job

You can have several configs of the below:

Rear Cage
Rear and Front Cage
Harness Bar
Door Bars

Also several colours

My choice too. Front cage drops before the dash and if you want to be able to use the glove box only a little cutting is required to the door.

Good choice

Thanks Steviant

What Mark Fish does not know about track prep'ing Clios to a high standard is probably not worth knowing!

just to let you know since you local mate that i'm going to be speaking to one of my pals about getting a cage made up for my clio, he's got a family run Auto Fabrication business and usually makes cages for BM's but has said that he'll have a look and see what he can do for the clio, links below to his website

Interesting fella, Would be good to see it in the flesh and have a chat to them before committing.

yeh def mate same here as i need to speak to him about a lot of things including price but i'll keep you updated, when you looking at getting it done ?

haha knockhill, dry ? we talking about the same place mate lol

i'll try and speak to him in the next couple of weeks, what sort of spec cage you looking for and i'll have a word

Nothing OTT... Just something that will give me a bit of protection if i roll it at Duffus ....LOL

6 point cage, Don't think i need doorbars, It's just for trackdays and weekend use.

haha sound mate, i've just spoken to him and he's doing one for a mk3 golf at the moment so it won't be a problem with the clio, i'm going to try and pop up next weekend and speak to him properly about it (either that or get him to come to me as my car doesn't have an engine the now and he'll need to have a look lol)

I think you mean 4 point if you dont want doorbars? Dont think the cage really works if the bar just goes round the roof and doesnt have a cross bar.

You can get the door bars which are quite low so its not to bad getting in and out.

Cheers guy's, I did consider this set up, I e-mailed them for some info about what was included in the kit ( mounting posts, plates etc ) I also asked if it needed the door cards removed to allow clearance for the door bars and any dash end modification if needed.......... never heard back !!!

Must have asked too many questions.......LOL

I've got a guy that used to work here as cage and exhaust designer measuring mine up for a bespoke exhaust, but he specialises in custom cages and makes them for the Ford Fiesta Championship (ST's and Zetec S mainly)

Can get his contact details if your interested?

just to let you know if your still interested, my pal is coming round to mine this week to have a look at the clio, size it up and give me a few options and prices

As said before bolt in. Won't require any dash cutting. They usually come with the spreader plates, which need welding in, You might need to box up the centre section ones from the floor. Once the plates are in properly, you can if needs be remove the cage. Ideally you want a bar inplace for the harness mounting, perfect world should be horizontal as you can see from the pics. Good padding aswell if you'll be using on the road, you don't wanna crack skull on it.

I would get some pics of how others have done it for referance with your cage fitter, if you are taking it to someone thats doing a clio for the first time. My old bmw cage was installed by a complete knob, who made a pigs ear of it. This time I paid to have it done properly.

When is this going to happen fella ?, I'll be in Glenrothes all day Friday.

as i said mate he's going to give me a call but not heard from him yet, will give him a text tomorrow and if he can't pop round then i'm sure he wouldn't mind you popping in and he can have a look at your clio instead so he can get an idea about sizes

i'll keep you posted
