Rover Shed...

If you do, get an early mk1 diesel. They're built better than the later models and are pretty much faultless. That and with £450 of spending they're faster than the 160 petrols as well :p

How does that work? I'm not disputing its possible just interested how?

FMIC too surely dude?

f**k that. Turbos on the wrong side, Benny Dub's made 157bhp on standard IC. You might gain a bit more torqueage with an FMIC, but tbh your on the limits of the clutch anyway at 160bhp/255lbft.

Epic build!

Looks evil from the front also with the stance!

Cheers!

Its a complete bodge, the blokes a right pikey ;)

Too f**king right. If it doesn't fit bodge the fucker in with cable ties. You should see the intercooler mounts. They're works of cable tie art...!

thats one of the best 25/zrs ive seen for a while.
ive owned a few rovers now, and i think there a complete pile of pish now. wish i never found the money pits. atleast the parts are readily available at breakers yards.

Next thing to arrive was my new gearbox. Freshly rebuilt 200 miles ago from an MG ZS 180, ratios are a bit questionable but its got a decent diff in it. Brownie points for whoever can tell me what it is? :p

oh and i think im the first so hopefully get full browney points, thats a pg1 with i think (as its not got the pin through the diff) an lsd

It is a PG1, and your kinda right except its not one of the standard LSD's. Its a proper job, Quaife ftw!

Hoping to get aerocatches on, and all the mechanical bits finished by this time next week. Then its just wiring and a test trip to scotland before 5500 miles in september.... SHEEET.

It moves. Well, it rolls. The engines still as useful as a chocolate fire grate atm. Got the top mounts set on minimum camber atm and ive raised it up, should get off the drive now.

First drive it in hopefully wednesday next week if the f**king brake lines arrive.

  Turbos.
Looks well. So is that the Quaife box as fitted to the Motorsport Elises? Cos its fcuking awful. Still, don't suppose you won't be ragging it like a race car.

Ive got 500lb/ft to put through it tho, so even if I going steady it'll still be crying. Its just the ATB in a standard PG1 box with ZS180 ratios, you running the 6 speed sequential arnt you? Theyre only rated to 250lb/ft or so?

Guessing you've had trouble with it... No surprise really as they're built like christmas cracker toys :/ Any reason you havnt changed to a Sadev/similar?

Might start this weekend. Got a loom for it and some other bits. Not going to say it will, as quite frankly somethings GOING to go wrong.

Quick photo of my new brake setup. 306 4 pots are going to be wrapped around them. Should stop nicely. Interiors getting gutted and prepped for scaffold this week as long as I can get away from uni work.

Hoping to have it on the road asap. What are peoples opinions on using aerocatches to lock the boot as well? Means I can properly gut the thing, also means I dont have to fiddle around with a boot popper...

I think you should go for it. Will you be able to lock it if you need to tho?

Also I really dislike these cars but i must admit I think yours looks great. The wheels suit it really well!

Direct port upgrade kit and bottle heater on the way. Picked up a wee bargain on that. Hopefully gonna find a larger bottle as well, as 5lb's is nothing. 10 minutes of fun max.

Coil on plug ignition and some other crap from a 620Ti s on the way from Bradford. Need to find a clutch/flywheel combo at some point as well. As my clutch slips at 300ft/lbs as is at the moment. Hopefully have come tasty pics up tomorrow.

Spent a fuckton on bits from Roverspares in bradford. Turns out they dont have what I want form a 620ti so ive had to go 2 gap flywheel and dizzy which means no effective imobilizer which makes stealing it a piece of piss. Oh well. Maybe at least they'll send what im after? Odds are they wont, but hey theres no fun in things just being right is there?

Cars now in the workshop. Ended up using strap ratchet. Worked well tbh.

Front ends coming apart, got all the suspension/brakes/shafts/crap off. Engine is ready to come out, did have it about 6/8 inches out, but the gearbox side rope snapped and scared the s**t out of me. Called it a day at that point. Tomorrow engines coming out and the box is getting split off.

Other things on order include a direct port nitrous upgrade kit and a bottle heater along with a bigger bottle. Pics kinda of relevant.

Replaced a f**ked engine mount. Keeping it though as ill send it off to get turned to poly.

Clutch/Flywheel off ready for the new 2 gap flywheel ive got coming instead of the current 4 gap.

Opinions? Bar behind the tailgate will hold the pins which holds the tailgate on. Ideally the tailgate would be GRP, but thats £500 and tbh im not hugely fussed about loosing weight at the rear. Need to get weight out the front tbh, the front/rear ratio is going to be tragic regardless though.

Braided hoses fitted to the oil pump, ones too short... Or maybe too long? Either way...

165323_10150379827170405_509225404_16723185_8155722_n.jpg

Marked up.

Cut.

And there should be an image here of them both fitted the same size. But apparently I didn't take one. (P.s. sorry for the s**t photos, they're not at the top of my priorities list).

Tomorrow the plan is to get the rear end sorted tomorrow. Clear it out, and generally sort it the f**k out. Gotta sort the steering column out as the existing one is too short. Other things to look at include sorting the interior wiring out, figuring out if im stripping it now and fitting just a seat. Or do I leave it until I've got the cash to cage it? Need to sort handbrake cables out and other s**t. Also need to split the new engine apart and change a cam to the dizzy type as I've got let down chronically on that side. Coil on plugs going to have to wait a wee while.

Either way, not short of stuff to do atm.

Sorted all the brake hoses out today. That was a pain in the shitter. Also I think ive finished taking stuff off. Steering column out ready for the longer 200 one tomorrow. Hopefully some proper progress will be made tomorrow.

Still desperatly trying to track down a clutch bracket a fuel pressure regulator and some fuel lines though. Nothing ever goes smoothly.

Do want brembo's, good work :)

Mine arrive tomorrow. Cannay wait. Hopefully im up for them?

200 steering column at the top and a 25/ZR one at the bottom. Can see the size difference. You need to change to the 200 one as the 25 one isnt quite long enough for the different angle at which the subframe comes in at.

163224_10150381600970405_509225404_16748178_1319128_n.jpg

New engine in. Turbo's much bigger than the other one. Still needs jiggling a wee bit to get it properly on its mounts.

163288_10150381600750405_509225404_16748175_5953327_n.jpg

Hoping to get everything else piped up tomorrow. Cant put the exhaust on as I dont have the damn gaskets needed. Still not got a Fuel Rail/Send+Return pipes/Pressure Regulator. Need all that asap else I'm properly up ****ing creek.

Wiring should get done tomorrow. All my fluids should be arriving as well. Then we shall see if it turns over. That'll be interesting.

Wheel on for quick pics.

Today got it on its mounts properly as it wasn't sitting properly so I couldn't bolt the fucker up. One of the driveshafts is in, need to plumb up the power steering then I can fill that with fluid. Hoping to get most of the pipework sorted tomorrow. Fluids arriving on monday being delivered (s'all about knowing the right people ;)) Been working on the wiring this evening getting that ready. Hoping its just going to be a case of turn the key and it goes.

f**king pigs might fly as well.

Update. Bar the intercooler piping and the head to radiator pipe everything's connected I think. Its just the wiring and the fuel system to go on tomorrow.

Stuck it back on its shoes so to speak. **** pics taken with greasy hands are ****. Theyre all hazy as the lens steamed up. Freezing cold workshop ftl.

Nearly there. Gotta get at ZR/25 loom tho I think as I seem to have thrown a couple of the connectors I need out. Need to go and get a fuel pipe from the top of the fuel filter to the fuel rail as well as the damn return pipe. Need to pick up some vacuum hose as well as a couple of bends as well.

Getting there. Gonna wheel it outside and fill it with fluids tomorrow? Gonna stick the bumpers on properly and get the rest of the bodywork bolted together as well. Jokes panel gaps ftl.

Got spark, got fuel, timing appears to be correct. I've got some photos to upload which I'll add in 2 seconds. However it sounds as if the timings off, as its backfiring and just not cranking right. All the electrics are sorted and its just got some fresh earths. It sounds as if its stalling under cranking, pressures building up and stopping it from continuing from turning over?

Videos for reference...

and a video of the boost gauge giving you an idea of manifold pressure.

It'll bite a wee little bit and pop up to 800rpm or so but it wont turn on. Any ideas would be helpful as its really starting to test my patience now.

S**tbox.
