RS 182-What about replacing Exaltos

Hi to all of you reading and participating this forum,

While reading your posts I came to an idea of swapping the Exaltos for something else on the market. The very first day you pick your car from the dealer.

Maybe with something from the Goodyear or Pirelli rack. Or from some other manufacturer.

As I firmly believe that some of your nervousness was caused by the very nature of the Exaltos.

Your comments will be much appreciated.

Ah there you are i was worried.

That of course is a ludicrous suggestion.

Come on, Tomclio 182

Dont you worry. I visit this forum at least twice, maybe three times a day. As an "intermezzo time" during my work. I cannot help myself - your forum is just GREAT. In fact - on some occasions iit is even approaching the NON PLUS ULTRA mark.

As for the Mich Exaltos, their stiffer side walls in combination with sport chassis may provoke some nervousness in some drivers not willing to get to know the car well.

You need to learn how to drive the car fast and safe at the same time. At the same time, I am positive that you may gain a more reassuring grip both in dry and wet if using some other rubber.

This might be a good proposal for some people driving their RS 182s in those regions with more rain and even snow. Therefore, dear Tomclio182, my proposal is far from being ludicrous.

Have a nice weekend.

P.s. Tomclio182, warm up man a little bit. Do stop with such unfriendly reception. I am a GOOD guy.

In my view it would be totally daft to change the tyres on day 1. Youre going to spend £600 to replace tyres that you might like! Give them a try - theyre probably fine, and if theyre not then change them after youve run the car in. Changing on day 1 is just crazy. Tyre choice is a very personal thing anyway. Just because others dont like them doesnt mean you wont.

I think renaultsport knew probably what they were doing when they put these tyres on!?, same reason i havent changed my wheels and tyres, cos sport depts tend to do a fair amount of testing to cars before they get released i think

but choice is yours if you want to change them for a different tire you think is going to make you less nervous then go ahead.

Good evening Renaultsportlers,

Well, reading all of your feedback, I must admit there is a little truth in all of your posts.

But choice of rubber is a very personal thing. I tested some optional rubber on my Rsport MkOne and I can tell you I was mighty impressed with one particular brand and tyre. What I got was a breathtaking momentum when stopping the car. Man, the car literally dug itself into the asphalt. In addition, I drove in wet (huge raining) like on rails. The Michelins were a far cry away.

So, give the name of the rubber, you will say. OK, they were Goodyear Eagles, believe it or not.
