RS Clio 172 ph1 - standard!

  Clio 172 ph1
Greets, someone asked for photos of the 172 as it's standard, I forget who though sorry

I've had this car ("Reggie" - I always name them!) since December and loving it but haven't had it clean for long enough to take photos since then, fingers crossed for this weekend but in the meantime here are some photos I took last night...

Under the gentle glow of a streetlight (ie looking yellower than Trisha Takanawa)

Done a few miles but I'm only the third owner :)

Absolutely loving the car, the acceleration never fails to put a grin on my face :D

At some point this year I'm looking to get the wheels refurbed and lower the suspension a few mm, and obviously get my CD player in there ha, generally very pleased with ma lil beasty though!! :D:D

Apologies for size (I don't normally get to say that!)

Plans sound good, maybe treat it to some new mats aswell.

The previous owner left a fresh set in the boot! :approve: Didn't want to put them in and ruin them in the middle of winter though, so in the boot they stay until the weather gets more reliable

Ha, yeah I will over the weekend, now I've posted up some naff ones it's incentive for me to improve on them. Had it cleaned on Weds, gotta be a record two days past cleaning without rain, chances of it staying dry tomorrow to get some sunny pics? Fingers crossed!

Will do :) Just also remembered I wanted to get a spare set of door trims and try colour-coding them, not convinced how successful I'll be though which is why I'm going to do it on a spare set! It seems silly that on the ph1 they colour coded everything except the door trims :dapprove:

And of course this is all if I don't get gassed to death tonight, other half decided it's too cold outside and rather than wait until tomorrow he is spraypainting 205 GTi parts in the kitchen. I'm upstairs in the 2nd bedroom with the window flung wide open and still getting high off the fumes :dead:

An alternative to refurbing my wheels is I've been offered a set of Turinis which look like nice wheels but also need refurbing and I canny decide whether to change or not! >_<

i had CC'd ph2 strips on mine but went back to origionals! dunno why but i seem to prefer them lol! join in and use the kitchen as a spray booth while its set up for it ;) wish i could! lol and refurb the standerd wheel imo. they suit the car really well with a little drop! my spare set are away to get powder coated next week :)

I love the Ph2 strips on the Phs1. Brings them bang up to date.

And I'd be looking at sorting that steering wheel out too, uurrgghhhhh, lol

Other than that, nice little motor

What can I actually do about the steering wheel though? I heard they pretty much all did it so I wasn't going to let it put me off the car, ha. It also doesn't look *as* bad in daylight, the flash is so unforgiving! I'd imagine a refurb would be pretty expensive and wouldn't know where to go, I want the airbag to work so don't want an aftermarket one, and I'd sooner die than put a tacky Halfords cover over it :dead:

Are ph2 strips a straight swap then? Because that would (obviously) be easier than colour coding, indeed even finding a ph1 set, from a quick ebay search >_<

I think the arch gap is bad-ish, however the flash highlights the gap so it looks worse than it actually does (gimme 12 hours and I'll have some shiny new daylight photos too!). Tyres are 195/50.

To be fair I don't think I've ever seen a car which has come from the factory at an appropriate ride height !!

wheels dont look too bad.

If you look in the sale section, there's a lad who refurbs steering wheels. Think its £150ish, so same price as aftermarket and boss

Okiedoke, so after 5 months of ownership and doing nothing other than a cambelt change and putting my CS sticker in the rear window, I decided it's time to do some wee bits and it started yesterday with removing the head unit (having coped for 5 months with a radio/cassette) and fitting my own one - corr it's a tight fit, innit!

And today I replaced the rear lights with some ph2 units from ebay:

And put another CS sticker on - this one on the front:

Nothing radical I know but it's a start. Currently bidding on some lowering springs on ebay and trying to get hold of some Turinis, although also considering those lovely Speedline 2110s which have come up

If anyone's out and about tomorrow night and pops to Ace Cafe, I'll be there in Reggie with my red and black hair, come say hello :)

Got some ph2 colour coded door strips off G_Clio, they arrived today so guess what I did as soon as I got home :D

Looks cracking. I need to get my self some standard alloys instead of the Phase 1's I have on.

Love the Ph2 Side strips too, I was considering doing it myself tnik this might of swayed my decision!
