RSi engine question

Hello,

Just got a 1.8 16v RSi clio on an N plate, its runs a little rough.

After a look round the engine bay I found a plug near the altenator just hanging there on a bracket not doing anything. (see pics below)

In the 2nd picture you can see under the bracket there is a torx bolt inside some sort of fixture.

Does anyone know if this should be connected to anything or not?

any help is much appreciated.

Well first thing is that you car is an 8V, Renault never made a MK1 16v RSi..

I am not 100% sure what the sensor does, but it definatly plugs into where somebody has put that screw

Knock sensor? Looks like the screened cable they tend to use.

Probably tight tappets if its running rough. These rsi's are known for it.

Yea im with knock sensor there normally postioned there too.
