Sat Nav in 182 - This is what I have done

  Full Fat 182

OK So when i ordered the Clio i decided to forgo Sat nav as the price scared me, and the thought was that i could read a map.Well in playing with the gadgets i had been given i found a solution that cost a fraction of the cost.Simply i used a Nokia n-gage and a Bluetooth GPS. I know that that there are other better devices out there, but they all require brackets and modifications to the car.By pure Luck, if you remove the back to the n-gage (not sure about the QD) the phone slots into the area where the radio display is and holds firm.I just thought that i would share this with you as n-gages are cheap on ebay as people (myself included) dont like looking like micky mouse when answering a call. I have a normal phone and the n-gage was a freebee.I have attached some photos of how it looks and am happy to help anybody who wants this cheap Sat Nav System.the software that i use is Route 66 and their website is at http://www.66.comhttp://www.66.com.

I have sent you a PM.

I paid £60 for the GPS on ebay from singapore and i already had all the rest of the kit.

Route66 has a brill feature in that it downloads all the traffic info and routs you around the problems.

ah wicked, so it does work for the normal ngage, not the qd one, cos on the route 66 website it says its omly works for the qd nagage.

does this cost anything when u r using it or is there just the initial outlay? i.e. does this use the GPRS on your phone or make outgoing calls?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I dont think it will work on a 6230. you need the nokia phones with the larger screen 6600 for example.

As for the outlay there isnt anything additional. The phone only uses GPRS for the traffic updates and to get this you need full internet GPRS turned on and not just WAP GPRS.

yeah, its quite a good pda but i thought if you could have nav on your phone it be much etter, cos i was thinking, what would use a pda other than nav. But still thinking which one to get. hehe
