Screeching wheels

  Mk4 .:R32
My wheels are making this really annoying high pitched, on and off screeching noise, but it seems to go away when I apply the brake. The only way I can explain it over a forum is:

screech-screech-screech-screech

like someone jumping up and down on a bed or something.

Could any tell me what this is?

Cheers

Anyone? It's doing my head it, like a metal on metal screeching. Will attacking the wheels with WD-40 do much?

It sounds like one of your brake calipers is sticking, meaning the pads are just touching the discs as they go round.

(I doubt your wheels are screeching as they're just lumps of metal! lol)

Not quite sure how you'd fix it if the calipers are on the way out - overhaul or replace I would have thought :)

But I'm no mechanic so hopefully someone will be along shortly with more knowledge than me!

Try jacking the car up and spinning the wheels, but don’t be spraying wd-40 near your pads mate.

As above, I had a sticking front calliper, causing wear on one side and giving an annoying noise like yours, the slide pins needed re greasing
