Evening chaps

Decided to finally address the rust bubbles along the edge of the bonnet and the wolverine scuff on the bumper.

Plan was to have it done at a body shop but I thought “how hard can it be” lol words of a fool.

Had some paint mixed in a can & a 2k lacquer. Sanded the the rust back with 180 grit > 1000 then 1500 grit.

Prepped everything fine & got to spraying. Couldn’t believe how easy it was haha expect it wasn’t.

Apparently there is a specific type of lacquer specially for blending new lacquer with old :( sadly learnt this after the fact.

Ultimately managed to make it look worse that it did before. The lacquer didn’t blend at all.

Hard to see but if zoom in you maybe able to see.

Tried wet sanding and polishing the blend to no avail.

Hit the whole thing with 1000 grit & lacquered again. This time around thought I’d lacquer the whole bonnet avoid blending.

Once lacquer had dried, sanded it with 2000 & 2500 grit wet to get rid of imperfections (Pictured)

Bit of compound & a polish later she had her shine back.

Not sure how long it will last but can’t complain at that price. Highly recommend for small jobs if you’re not trying to break the bank.

Cheers

Awesome work. 👌🏽

I’ve been doing paint ‘repairs’ in work lately. And I’ve learned if you load enough on, there’s plenty to play with when flatting it back. 👌🏽😂😂

Would've never thought sanding = better shine!? incredible. Do love a good 'repair' 👌🏾😂
