Sell 182 and Buy K-Tech’s Turbs idea





Right i had a mad brain wave last night (much to jos disgust lol) and dont know if i should do it or if its going to be too much hassle.

Right, i sell the 172 and with the money i buy K-Techs Turbod valver, then i either:

A: Swap the turbo bits onto my 2.0ltr lump (not sure if this is possible or not) along with the big brakes and uprated suspension and sell the red valver as a standard valver, or

B: Swap the whole K-Tech turbod 1.8 valver engine into my 449 Valver and put my willy lump into the Red valver and sell that as a hybrid.

Then sell the 182 and stick with either a 1.8 or 2.0 valver turbo and give it a full respray.

Opinions welcome?

Also if you read this Nick, what have you got yours insured as? who with? and how much?

The whole reason you bought the 182 was "to get a modern car, with warranty etc" iirc?
 


If you bought the 182 new youd lose SO much money! Plus all those ideas sound costly, not suprised your other half is disgusted! ;)
 


right, so you own a 172, 182 and a valver hybrid?

If so, then could you sell the 172, buy the valver turbo. Keep the 182, but pay for your respray for the turbo with the money you get from selling the NA valver or NA hybrid.

It would also free up about £6k for us to buy a conservatory for the house or something sensible like that:(.

A) AFAIK, you need a 1.8 block due to the piston size. Id keep your 182, if they were selling a high pressure turbo then maybe it would be more worthwhile.

Just sell the hybrid and get a respray on the red one. You could make it look mint.........and go mint!

do it, without meaning to sound offensive, its not like a 182 is going to be worth much in a couple of years anyway and it will only depreciate more so as miles and years are added.

for god sake turbo the 182, ud b the only person/couple in the whole of the uk with one! itd be amazing!
 


We cant turbo the 182, we need to sell the 172 & hybrid to clear some of the loan on the 182 or sell the 182 & 172 and turbo the hybrid/1.8 :confused:

Sell your valver, then turbo either your 172/182 and sell the other one. That sounds as good a suggestion as any! lol :confused:
 


Hahahaha, crikey some replies.

Right we have got a £10k loan on the 182 and £2k loan against the Hybrid

£12k total

Sell 182 for £10k

Sell Hybrid for £3k

Sell 172 for £5.5k

£18.5k Total

Buy K-Tech turbo for £3.5k

that leaves us with £15k

Pay off both loans £12k

that leaves us with £3k

Respray Turbod Valver £1.5k

leaves us with £1.5k for your 2CV Flo:oops:

Right have just had a formal meeting with the mrs in the office and have just thought that if we sell the 182 and 172 for £16k ISH, we can clear both loans and be left with £4k.

Right, how much do you reckon it will cost to turbo the Hybrid:D
 


As I see it you have £6~6.5k collateral.

If you dont need the car to be totally relaible or willing to put with the cost of 2 cars Id keep the hybrid and buy the turbo and you have no debts.

OR buy the turbo car and keep the 172 which should be more reliable being more modern than the hybrid. Youll only need about £2.5k loan.
 


How about keeping just the 172 & adding throttlebodies

What bhp will we get from throttlebodies?

& what bhp would we get from turbod 2.0ltr hybrid?

Sounds like youve defo got your heart set on this so this is what id do

Say you sell the 172 & 182 clear the loan plus have about 3k left over id keep the ktec valver as it is in terms of engine, brakes, suspension and respray it as you say coz the current colours crap. Using your hybrid swop some bits and pieces over as you see fit then sell the hybrid. I wouldnt look into fitting the turbo to the hybrid coz a front wheel drive car can only handle so much power through two wheels so is it really worth all the expense for very minimal gains the 2.0 would have over the 1.8? The 200bhp valver will be rapid and a sleeper. Using some of the cash from the hybrid buy a cheap yet fun runaround like a 106 rally for example

Why not sell the 172 and Hybrid and TB or Turbo the 182? Be the first of its kind.

After all, any of the other options still dont answer why you bought the 182..... warranty and peace of mind that goes with a new car. Even if you modded the engine, the warranty still stands for the bits you dont modify.
 


Can someone post the sound of a turbo dump valve please I dont really know what one sounds like (I havent got a clue what ppptttssssshhhh sounds like in reality) :D

Roamer is the only TB 172 owner his is a Mk2 though. However it should be easier and cheaper doing TB ona a mk1 as Roamer had to change his throttle pedal to a Mk1 drive my cable one, the Mk2 has the electric accelerator which didnt work with his setup.
