Sensor behind nearside headlight???

  Ibiza FR
Sometimes when I stop the engine and get out of my car, There's a fast clicking noise coming from behind the nearside headlight.

I've had a closer look and it seems there's a sensor below it. Has 2 wires going in/out and a pipe/tube coming up and out going into the side of the top of the engine. I've tried getting my hands down there but have only managed to pull the top off it and put it back on. Any idea what it is, I presume its a sensor...?

the car is a 1.2 mk2 ph2.

Cheers, Mitch

It is a sensor and monitors the carbon canister beneath. You can remove the canister and the sensor but will need a resistor to prevent the engine managment light coming on. There are 2 pipes connected to the cannister and these should be joined together. All to do with the fuel tank venting and feeding the fumes back into the engine to be burnt off.

Is there any chance this part could be causing an electrical fault if its shot?
Reason I'm asking is I only hear it ticking when my electric fault light is on and I turn the engine off? I'm still trying to resolve it!
