Service costs and differences!

  133/225/CLS AMG
Ok here's the thing.

My Megane had its first service the other week, even though its only got 2500 miles on, has to be done to maintain the warranty.

It cost me £172 from Renault Croydon

My missus took her Clio 182 Cup in for its first service, its got 10,500 miles on it but it cost her £206 from the same dealers.

Any ideas what they'd have done to her car that they didn't to mine that would have made the cost different???

Haven't had a chance to compare the work sheets yet.

  cock mobile.
Maybe parts for your car are cheaper, oil, filter, etc.

Maybe it's quicker to do, so less labour.

You'll probably never know why.

Thats the trouble with Renault.

Only thing I can thing is if they didn't replace something on mine due to it being newer which they replaced on the 182.

Thats not a bad price, although dealership costs vary by all accounts.

As it happens when my missus got there to collect the car, the reciept said £176, so she's gonna check what they've actually taken.

At least its the same (well only £4 different) price as my service which makes sense. :D:D

I decided not to go to a Renault dealer for my first service as I didnt want to pay £225 for them to change the oil and the air filter. I found a local garage through the Good Garage Scheme who did a 1st class (Bosch) service for £145. The checklist of stuff they looked at was 3 pages long, I doubt a Renault dealer would have gone in to that much detail.

Cars need servicing at age not only milage though just becase you've only done 2.5k doens't mean you shouldn't change the oil etc.

Time to do the services is different on different model bits are difficult to reach etc.

They do more than oil and air filter though and you'd be suprised what a dealership checks. I'd trust Renault over a normal garage.
