Slack seatbelt

  172 & RSi
Passenger seatbelt on my car is very slack and slow to retract. Its retracts quickly until a certain point then it slows right down and usually stops.

Its quite embarrasin when people have to feed it back in, or throw it in the car when gettin out so it doesn't get stuck in the door.

Anyone experienced a similar problem and have a solution?

Cheers

Dash shine spray, pull it all the way out, and spray it (not loads just lightly) then pull it out all the way again and do the other side.

it might but ther is an easy test, see the bit of the belt from the guide i nto the interior trim, pull it out all the way , and hold the bit with the clip firm, and let the other part go. if it recoils instantly it means the bit you are holding and/or the guide is filthy. i got mine working like a charm. i had to sort of scrape the guide with a craft knife then polished it with dash shine, and i heavily shampooed the belt, it abit more silver, but still dirty though at the bottom the heavy use area accross the lap. but it recoils now all the way alot lot quicker. the passenger one on my car its worse than the drivers but that is because it has alot of make up on it from my GF, so it slows faster as the dirt is spread further along it.
however if the normally coiled clean length doesn ot recoild it meand a new belt mech is required.
