Small Change

Picked up a K-Tec panel filter and as the car is awaiting repair i thought i would bash on and fit it as it only takes about 5mins.
I know this will not give me 5bhp but the whole point in it was to save me changing it.

Once i have had the T/belt done and the de-phaser i plan on doing a decent service every 6 months anyway.

Wouldn't be surprised if you got a small increase. The standard paper filter is pants, IMO. Should be a bit more revvy, although not too much.

How much was it on how long do they last?

I bought it from a user on the forum second hand.

They will last a lifetime along as they are cleaned and oiled (as far as I'm aware but i could be wrong)

I honestly thought that these done nothing what so ever to performance

I had a K&N panel filter on mine, Fred took it off last service as we agreed it didn't do much and I couldn't be arsed to clean it. I can honestly say since going back to a standard filter I can tell no difference at all.

Thats exactly what i thought, With needing to clean it i then have an excuse to go under the bonnet

Servicable ones pay back quickly enough too :)

Be careful when opening airbox by 'hindging' up like that, I've damaged the foam surround on my old one like that. Much safer to take the hose off so you can lift off the top half of the airbox, just something I've learnt hard way.
