Snap, bang!!



  2001 clio 16v
Well, driving to get new exhaust fitted today then all of a sudden, boom! My timing belt has decided to die! looks like exhaust is on hold for few weeks now :(

I've never done it myself but afaik it's a case of swapping the engine and box including mounts, then it's just a case of needing an ecu and a key, everything else should be recyclable.

Why do people always think they need a new engine? Most of the time you can get away with a few new valves. Get a haynes and get the head off. Its a good job on them.

It's going to be far easier to take it somewhere and them to take a look at it. You may not have caused that much damage dependant upon speed, rpm and alike.

Swapping the engines legally is a pain.

totally agree. I hate engine swaps, so much easier and nicer to rebuild a head and you know the internals are decent after

what mileage was it at mate, mines over due on years but about 20k under on mileage. it worries the f**k out of me but i havnt got the cash to get it done

Too much specialist equipment to take the head off though. Straight swap is a set of sockets and a flat headed screw driver job. If its there Id use it but a straight swap is piss. Done in 5 hours with a mate.
