Sodding black connector under the seats

Hi sorry for this ignorant question, I'm adding the resistors to the connectors under the seats and behind the steering wheel so I can get the car through an MoT

The black and red connector under the seats, I'm trying to seperate two parts, I take thats right?

I can't get the b'stards apart, I've flicked up the red flat bit at the top and am pulling, am I just not using enough brute force?

I've got after market seats, so the black and red connector isn't connected to anything. I was thinking I might have to take the section that is attached to the car apart, if that isn't the case where do I put the resistors in relation to what's left...
