Some questions for 182 owners

Im replacing the cup alloys with 17" OZ super Ts and I am wondering how the bigger wheels and lower tyres will affect the ride/handling.

What tyres are people using, im thinking Goodyear f-1s or Bridgestone RE050. Currently running F-1s on my Scooby and think they are as good as anything especially in the wet, its the wet im worried about when I leave the 4wd behind.

Also can anybody tell me the make and model of alarm/immobiliser that is fitted to the 182.

that also raises another a good question; does anyone know if all 182s come with full CAT1 alarm system fitted as standard? Oh and welcome to the forum Tinhead - 182s rock, huh. What made you swap in the Scoob?

all renault uk cars do, imports do not (the alarm gets fitted as the cars enter the UK at the port if they ordered through a renault dealer) European cars do not have an alarm, only uk cars to bring the insurance group down.

I personally think the michelin exaltos that come as standard are the best tyres I have ever had, especially in the wet (have had F1s nin the past too). They were designed for the car and i would stick with them

Thanks dave, regarding the Exaltos i was worried the stiff sidewalls might trash the ride on 205/40/17s. The goodyears have a slightly softer sidewall but good grip. By the way do you know the offset of the 182 cup alloys.

Andy G, to answer your question the Scooby is 6 years old in Oct( owned from new) and has some big expenses comimg up clutch/tyres/6yr service which add up to about £1300, plus it costs £400 a year to keep the warranty going. Although its been a fantastic 6 years I want to find out if you can have 95% of the fun for 50% of the cost. I havnt got the car yet so I just hope it will "Rock" as much as you think.

sorry dont know the offset mate, someone on here should do though, the stiffer side wall exaltos are fine as far as im concerned, they corner like they are on rails and are excellent in the wet, i personally cant fault them and the ride isnt too hard.

You will definitely enjoy the car, especially on the twisties! You point it and it goes, there doesnt seem to be any understeer!

I too would stick with the exaltos, ran around for days last week with a flat and didnt notice cos the run flat system is so good!!!!! Have now bought a ciggie lighter compressor from halford, better than the foam tin

In general, bigger wheels means harsher ride, increased tramlining, less progessive limit and decrease in acceleration.
