Some Updates on my 172

[Adamio]

At the beginning of the year i was looking to change car. But after looking around at other cars and taking into account tax, insurance and having to take out a loan i decided to keep the clio, make a few changes and get out on track.

So over the last few months i've been collecting parts and they're starting to go on the car now. Last weekend the rear strut brace, Janspeed Sports Cat and Powerflex lower engine mount bushes went on. This lot are on this weekend's list of jobs.

Also got a cup racer towing eye and tried some badge painting. Quite liked the color but my painting skills aren't up to much, so they're being painted this week. I'll get some pics up when i get them back.

Not sure about gains yet but when it i was at the Surrey Rolling Road in March it made 157.9 bhp. Feels better already with just the sports cat and RSTuner map.

Fitting it is just a case screwing it in like the Renault one

Because they we're only done as a temporary trial i just rubbed them down with some wet and dry, sprayed them, let them harden and then gave them a quick polish.

The guy who's doing them now is the scratch, paint and valet guy at my local Renault garage. He's doing the side bullets orange with black text, not sure what lacquer etc he's using.

Cams are very expensive! Will they be worth that?

I hope so, i've heard very good things about them so i'll have to wait and see.

i'm sorry but......

the tow sticker is there to do exactly what it says, on a track day if you come off it is a clear indication to the marshalls where to attach the hook

by the way Adamio, the car looks awesome!

Not sure yet, still waiting for the bracket for the airbox. It's on back order from Renault.

Well after weeks of no progress, and missing the rolling road day on Saturday, things are back on track all of a sudden.

Cams went in Saturday so i've been taking it easy since then and am just waiting to get a custom map loading on with the RSTuner now. The cambelt change and cams didn't go quite as planned and ended replacing several other parts such as the dephaser and throttle body.

Then yesterday i took a trip to Rentech to collect some Trophy Recaro's and H&R's and also get them fitted.

Next up is strip the rear, cage and wheel refurb
