I had the ultimate nightmare of watching 40 odd people drive my car a couple of weekends ago. For some of the time I was in the car "babysitting" and it was during this that I had the experience that no one wants...
I get in the car and introduce myself to the driver and ask him if he knows about the car and he says "Yeah, its a MK1 v6 - the ones that are a bit twitchy" so I tell him thats right but if they are driven smoothly they are fast and because of the stripped out nature and suspension mine handles better than he may think as long as he remembers to be smooth and slow in, fast out in the corners.
Jump forward 2 laps of Bruntingthorpe and we are heading down the long straight to the right hander and we are going a bit quickly so I give him the signal for brake - he does this but with a lack of comittment and then literally attempts to throw the car round the corner (still on the brakes) - needless to say the weight transfer unstuck the rear and we were passengers, straight through the tyre wall at the end. Damage to the car is a cracked front wing but we were lucky!
He wasnt happy when I told him to go straight back to the pits and the only thing he could find to say was "It doesnt handle like my Mk 1 Golf" w.t.f. was he expecting; the egine is at the other end of the car, he had been warned and he was driving like a numpty
I stopped being a passenger after this and let some other people baby sit the car - way too stressful to be in it!
