I never let someone else drive mine, although in Scotland last year Pootle drove the first half of the drive back in mine. As we left she almost ran into the back of someone else as a fit bloke on the pavement put her off. Once Id recovered from that I slept until the services.....not that I was pissed/hungover or anything.

Id be paranoid about them not being covered by their insurance in the event of a prang.

doesnt bother me in the slightest, im never that attached to my cars to even care, its just a piece of metal used to transport me from one place ot another

I quite enjoy being the passenger for some reason, letting someone else drive it. Would like to see it driven around with me out of the car, so I can see how sweet it looks

Only let people drive it if they are insured though (and if I trust them ;))

i ve just got mine back after lending it to my brother,he was well impressed(he has a mk4 golf gti)
he reccons "nothing can tuch these f*ckers, its f*cking mad"

I had the ultimate nightmare of watching 40 odd people drive my car a couple of weekends ago. For some of the time I was in the car "babysitting" and it was during this that I had the experience that no one wants...

I get in the car and introduce myself to the driver and ask him if he knows about the car and he says "Yeah, its a MK1 v6 - the ones that are a bit twitchy" so I tell him thats right but if they are driven smoothly they are fast and because of the stripped out nature and suspension mine handles better than he may think as long as he remembers to be smooth and slow in, fast out in the corners.

Jump forward 2 laps of Bruntingthorpe and we are heading down the long straight to the right hander and we are going a bit quickly so I give him the signal for brake - he does this but with a lack of comittment and then literally attempts to throw the car round the corner (still on the brakes) - needless to say the weight transfer unstuck the rear and we were passengers, straight through the tyre wall at the end. Damage to the car is a cracked front wing but we were lucky!

He wasnt happy when I told him to go straight back to the pits and the only thing he could find to say was "It doesnt handle like my Mk 1 Golf" w.t.f. was he expecting; the egine is at the other end of the car, he had been warned and he was driving like a numpty

I stopped being a passenger after this and let some other people baby sit the car - way too stressful to be in it!

My Uncles Westfield used to be used for the same sort of thing youve just described there, as he is an instructor at Goodwood.

One day hes the passenger in the car and some idiot decided not to brake, they went into the wall at around 85 mph.

It was a good way to get an appreciation of what the average instructor has to put up with. I was lucky the instructors who were baby sitting the Ariel Atom and Sport Spyder had even more fun!

It was a shock to see how bad some people drive to be honest. So many of them clearly thought they were Michael Schumacher without an F1 car. Too many people seemed to be of the opinion that I drive like this on road so I can do the same on a track only twice as fast - absolutely no comprehension of some basic stuff like the differences between FWD, RWD what weight transfer is and what a turn-in point is - in the end I gave up screaming "turn in later" every lap!

soo true

my car was in a garage last sat, i was walking down road towards garage and could just hear my car from down the road and round a corner, sure enough got to the garage and my car was being reversed into fourcourt, sounded much louder than i thought it did

always weird watching ur car being driven by someone else, you can stand and watch and just think, hmmm thats gd, that could be better

My Uncle said he gets some people that are truely awful. He reckoned the worst bunch they had was a group of Traffic Police. Aparently they werent good to start with, but assumed they were great because of who they were and what they did for a living. It doesnt fill you with confidence.

I have let a mate drive my STI round the ring a few times :) Over the whole weekend we managed 6/7mpg so we were not hanging about either.

Waiting for him to return the compliment on the next trip.

Ross (rmccardal) and I swapped over once when I had my FRP and his 182 was standard....that was a good laugh, I managed to get it on 3 wheels and he didnt seem too upset ;)

On the way back to my house we found a Volvo T5 thinking that he was something a bit special...unfortunately the FRP couldnt keep up, so I had to rag the living nuts off of Ross car to show him what clios could do. The brake fade was tad scary! I wonder if hell let me try his Brembos? :p
