South Coast Wales Trip 2015

Following on form this last year http://www.cliosport.net/threads/wales-trip-2014.739322/ Some of us guys on the South Coast decided we would do another trip into Wales for some epic roads this year. Again the weekend was planned by @Tim. with some altercations to the route. Cheers again mate but im not too sure on the off-roading section

@Cub. was meant to join us but sadly he couldn't, saying he was a massive wimp or something... (Im not sure you would of made it off the Rally section to be honest mate) Probably best you stayed at home !!! This Year @Fletcher and @TimR26 tagged along for the adventure. Both had just come back from the Nurburgring a month before but wanted to see how there cars coped on the famous Welsh roads.

I wont go in to as much detail as last years thread as the routes didn't change a massive amount or where we stayed.

The Friday night stop and the Evo Triangle.

Lake Vyrnwy and Hellfire Pass.

Fletcher and Pete's favorite road.

Elan Valley.

Llangmammarch Wells and Black Mountains.

Looks like another epic trip. I was gutted I had to bail, but needs must.

Lovely photos. That off road section with the video I saw would have spelt the end of my splitter and sump.

Excellent write up and pictures Chris. I think you may be right about altercations as that gravel stage had bigger rocks and sharp pieces of slate that would have tested the mettle of a WRC car. Will add my pics later. Cheers to Tim for organising it again. Was truly an emotional weekend.

Some really lovely shots there Chris, great effort.

As for the off-road section, that was never my intended route, it was Tim's nav that decided that was the best way between two points. Maybe he's set it up for mountain bikes instead of cars?

All I'll say my satnav was loaded with the coordinates on the routes you emailed. At least it's given us something to laugh about now even though it wasn't that funny at the time.

Hahahaha, nice one chaps! Believe me, there are a LOT worse roads than that 'off-road' section you found yourselves on...!

I'm gutted I couldn't make this one but sadly I don't have my T or a readily available Clio V6 this time. I'll be keeping my eyes open for future re-runs though.

^ Awesome... that tower in the background takes water from the reservoir and provides water for residents of Birmingham. Truly amazing. The Clio's quite nice, too...

I need to apologise - I re-visited the route-planning software last night in preparation for the Trophy run later this year and it was totally my fault. Sorry Tim

Looked a really good trip. I did chuckle at the off road track though 😂 How did the Type R fair against the Clio's on the twisty's ? I was in Wale's on Wednesday giving my ST death, really is such a quiet place during the week!
