Stupid question, but if you try to change the tyre on the road side, what do you do about the alloy?

You'll have to have some pretty meaty thumbs to change a tyre at the roadside...!

I ride without.

If 99% of your journeys are within 4 miles of your house i'd not bother. Just in for when you're going long distance.
